Interesting you pushed that film to ISO 800. The grain is quite pronounced, but has an interesting structure. Are these scans or prints from the darkroom (I think they may print better than scan)?

I purchase 100 feet of this film about five or six years ago. I imagine it is a bit expired by now. Unfortunately, it appears Orwo  is no longer making this stock. At least I cannot find it. I am pretty pleased with the result...I do like grain. They are scans. Hopefully, in a couple years, when I retire, I will learn to print. It is  a 400 film so I was pretty confident about pushing to 800. I may roll 12 exposures off and shoot at 1600 to see how far it can go.

OBTW, if anyone out is is in the know about Orwo, I would appreciate any confirmation that the UN74 film is no longer made. I can't find it anywhere in USA. Even the Orwo North America web page no long lists it......except in the 16mm format.

Thanks,

Wayne

The thin Adox CHS 100ii negatives continue to baffle, confound and delight me - it's an extraordinary film given the right conditions. The detail in this picture is stunning:

Where color field painting meets photography! Editing the margin on the right is forceful and the found palette is a delight.

I am ready to buy a ticket to see this film noir playing at a theatre near me. No doubt Godard would enjoy this if he were still with us. Cut and print. Rog

Indeed, I mixed up UN54 with your UN74 - I now understand your confidence in pushing. I believe you are right in that UN74 is not made anymore, though they seem to produce NP400 instead - only in 36 exposure rolls as far as I could see. Also new colour film is in the making.
The Orwo website is here: https://www.orwo.wtf

This past year they seem to have supply chain issues. Lets hope they get things going soon…

A few weeks back there were some images of WW2 concrete objects that reminded me of this thing, that google describes as "Tour Penchée (Poste de direction de tir du Wn M.K.B. Oye Plage)".  As it is about 30mile as the crow flies from where I live on the other side of the channel, I have to assume that one of the directions it faces is towards me.  (I like the idea of sitting at the picnic table wondering what might happen if it finally fell over.)

Henry,

Thank you. Of course, there are hundreds of digital images of my little princess; I think this film negative has a better chance of surviving until she is old, like her grandfather. :)
