chrism Posted December 7, 2015 Share #8344 Posted December 7, 2015 Gary, yes I see the line , it happens from time to time on the Minolta scanner or another brand. This come from one dust on the sensor of the scanner. I saw that on our Leica French (I'll try to find the link) He wanted to clean himself but then deregulated its scanner.....so I do not advise you to do. Do not disassemble the scanner itself, but perhaps try an air blower on the sensor. otherwise the after sale service , if there is in NZ Best Henry Here is the link (14th post : dust and line and 15th post after an air blower) http://www.chassimages.com/forum/index.php?topic=242544.0 I get that with both the 5400 and the 5400 MkII. The 5400 I took apart after finding a service manual, but I couldn't clear the spot, so I think a pixel in the CCD is dead. So far the MkII scanner has responded to canned air squirted (via the little red plastic tube that comes with the can) through the door through which film holders are inserted. I suspect that just one dusty negative results in dust being electrostatically attracted to the CCD, so be careful!
