During covid I made the decision to photograph "light". Duh - pretty difficult to photograph anything without it:

Tooradin 2020

Canon F1N, FDn 100mm macro, Porta 400

It smacks of Bauhaus, and it's so inspiring in simplicity that it becomes complex at 186,000 mi/s (300,000 km/s). Light! The mesmerizing pattern of polka dots of light beaming through the scaffolding of a construction site. Then, there's "construction sight,' the vision of seeing a work that celebrates the very notion of light, itself. Applause from the audience of passers-by. The elements of this site intrigue. One of my favorite refrains is the presence of absence, and here the scaffolding platforms are absent from vision, except for the evidence of shadowplay. (Shadowplay Eterniday after Joseph Cornell.) Scaffolding is itself a precise metaphor in building an argument or vision. Architecture. Your diptych provides the scaffolding of artistic play, an argument of light, so obvious it's hiding in plain sight. See the Medieval concept of light, the notion that eyes send out rays that influence objects within sight. The camera no longer receives light but sends out rays in a Medieval sense. The task of the artist, then, is to harvest the rays. My, Phil, you have proposed a daunting task that would seemingly enlist a measure of alchemy to harvest those rays. Your Baedeker of this journey will certainly be a best seller.

What a triptych of an exercise in colour. One more so than the other. The eye follows multiple paths of colour, hue, shade, bold in one instance subtle in the other ... Is it the NATURA effect?

I keep coming back to this photo--- a multi-angled affair... balanced but dynamic. As it should be. Chapeau!

Must be a still from a video, I still see it moving. The dark giving birth to some not yet structured gestalt....

Silver Meteor on the way to Florida. I tried to pan to show motion in the foreground with the background sharper. This was the best shot. Pretty sad, really. IIIf, 50/2.8 Elmar, Tri-X, Rodinal.

Doug, nothing sad to be seen here. The movement is clearly visible and the blur seems adequate.Nice photo.  I've done a lot of out the train photos--the right amount of panning is tricky. If you want more blur, you need less light. And perhaps a longer lens. I  got my "best" blurs about dawn with exposures of about a second... Or take an ND filter.  If you are up  to some cheating: Do test photos with a digital camera... ☺️🤫; then transfer the adjustments to the IIIf...

Very pleasant composition without being trivial. The glistening of the light leads the eye to the sea and makes the photo  to stand out. A snake of light...

Thanks a lot Klaus! It was not my camera, I used the F6 of a friend of mine, but I have to admit that the F6 is really perfect for portraits. Very fast and accurate AF and also really great lenses and light metering. Probably (or better for sure) I will not resist 🥰

Dear mdp, JMF and gbealnz, my motives for not "liking" your photos are merely superstitious.

That's what I was thinking in Title Page, like opening moments of a film, still somewhat obscure, untethered to a narrative, and supered over the darkness is, of course, film credits countered with a film score, and here, I am partial to Hildur Guonadottir (sorry, but I can't hunt for those wonderful Icelandic letters in her name).

So, you ask, "What about skywriting?" There is none, but it's waiting for your imagination to scribble something into that glorious blue sky. Ha, ha. You wing walker daredevil. Maybe that's a whole new venture.

Subtle Portra 400 from a Borgesian palette of forking paths, but its the kitesurfers, so extreme.

Thank you so much Klaus and Rog. I applaud the designers of this serpentine path, who understood that the light from the setting summer sun would illuminate the wooden boards under the right conditions, lending it this lovely sinuous form to enhance that effect. And, as for the windsurfers, I remember waiting ages for one to pop up into that quadrant at an agreeable angle, as I thought the composition would be improved with a touch of colour there.
