Henry,

About three weeks ago you said you might try developing a colour film at 30ºC. Did it work, and if so how long a time did you use?

Chris

Chris , I tried it once but I had a temperature problem that is not accurate to 30 °C

and this was not good.

I bought a hot plate and I put over a water bath and I try to work at 38 °C (3mn 15) .

I will try my next roll at 30 ° C (developer : 8 minutes for 1-4 rolls and 9mns 5-8 rolls)

no reason why it does not work  but much longer time to turn

IMO no problem with your motorized Rondinax

I just received this in the mail. I think (and hope) this might be the "real" Agfa APX 400 - does anyone know?

I used a LR preset and vignetting (the lens does not vignette), is the original better?

does anyone use color filters on their lenses (e.g., 81A, 81B, 81C) when shooting with color film in order to achieve optimum color balance from the film given the outdoor lighting conditions?

Hmm, good question. I think the original has a fairytale and old school (low contrast) feeling which is very appealing. It looks like a photo from long ago found in an old album in the attic. The second one is punchy with the inky blacks one sometimes sees in newspapers. It leaves much less to the (my) imagination. I think I prefer the original.

Ellie,

No, I don't feel it is, to my mind the first image was slightly "foggy" looking, but that might have been how it was or what you were after.

I'm old school, soot and whitewash. The second image has more punch to me.

Either is nice though, and a wonderful area, nothing like that where I am.

I prefer the original too. It looks like the fine details are lost in the higher contrast, on the other hand it could be more "trendy" right now with high contrast?

Thanks gbealnz too.

Thanks, it was "foggy" or more correctly raining. I had planned for a bit cloudy, low contrast but when I arrived it was raining a lot. I will go back in late fall/winter for another roll of Pan F 50.

Ah, well that changes everything, in my mind anyway. I then reserve the right to change my opinion, please, LOL.

The first image is what you saw, and what "was". That is the image to show. The second gave me the impression of sunlight, almost, and this clearly was not correct.

I stand by what I said though, either/both are nice, very.

Merci, Henry. I have another Rondinax user on a different forum who wants to use it for C-41, but is concerned that the built-in thermometer in a Rondinax cannot cope with such high temperatures. Moi, I just go ahead anyway and ignore the thermometer in the tank.

À bientôt!

C.
