I apologise for interrupting the flow of amazing photography, but can anyone tell me what happened to Henry? I feel I missed something significant, and can’t seem to find it in recent pages.

Cheers

J :)

Hi J :),

I'm not sure you've missed anything - there has just been no word from the good Doc for some time now. I know of at least a couple of us who have PM'd him but have to date had no response.

Not that I'd wish to bother him, but if anyone has his email address perhaps they might try to contact him that way? Just to ensure really that he is OK.

It is really nothing like the same on this thread without Henry's passionate advocacy of all things film and his positive encouragement and support of all of us dinosaurs who still use it (not to mention his lovely photos). I know many of us - probably all of us - miss his presence here a lot, and hope that he can find a way to come back this way. For now, though, I think I'm just going to assume that he's busy with other things and will return when he's able. I hope that is the case anyway.

Oh, and you're right about the flow of amazing photography - this popular thread really does shine and boasts a supportive, inclusive group of people.

Ray I disagree because film reproduces differently

I show to all of you the proofs when I compare digital vs film not a diatribe

You will probably notice that I never comment in other digital threads because

I am sincere

I cannot tell that color is beautiful , when it's not , that's the reason you don't see

my comments in these digital threads

If it continues I'll stop to post my film pictures in this thread... may be pictures

posted above are my last.

Good continuation All

Best

Henry

PS : I still have my two M digital cameras but don't use them.. and one detail

I have 9 years of digital practice behind me

I hope his silence has nothing to do with the above confrontation with Ray who stated that Henry’s plea for film was starting to get too much for him

While an average pic at best, it has significance to me, and I guess this is why we shoot (film).

Recently, in August I had the fortune to spend a day at a "workshop" with two other forum members.

One who has been unfortunately absent for a wee while taught me that Kodak will go bust if we don't shoot film. The more the better. He came armed with a backpack of film, plus two M cameras, and two digitals, and goodness knows how many lenses, plus even a tripod. If that wasn't enough, his sense of humour and selflessness was everywhere. My wife and I went away with sore faces, from the laughing.

The other member was an expert in selfies, discrete selfies, contrails and anything abstract. He was the logistics officer that got us from one foriegn city to another, and back, effortlessly.

This picture sums up what I learnt, (not a great deal by the look of it) from this absolutely wonderful day. I shot well over my usual days consumption, even though I was in a foreign land, on the other side of the world. And I even stooped as low as to shot pictures of abstract chairs, with a window in the picture, and even worse, MY reflection in the shot. Horrors.

Thanks guys, a great day, I'd love to do this all over, so here's to next time.

Now that is what I call a selfie, very nicely done :)

It was a wonderful day. I couldn't believe it when I saw Henry with the two Billinghams across his body (beige for film M, black for digital M) plus the large backpack, half open :o  and jam packed, absolutely stuffed with Tri-X boxes. Quite a sight. Good thing he brought the tripod too so we could take a group picture with the Hasselblad. I still haven't scanned any of my rolls but very much look forward too in the near future.

I was again thinking about what ever happened to Henry just this very day.

This thread is indeed one of the shining lights of this forum.

That's very nice, Keith (and Acros, your development and the Sonnar also combine well for a pleasing look).

Ooh, backlit teasels - now what does that remind me of?  Ah yes, something spotted in France last year.  (M7, C-Sonnar 50mm, Acros100).

I have PM'd him and had a response. Give him the needed time. He'll be back.
