It also happens in color. Two months ago my lab changed the c41 chemicals supplier and the fixer was not concentrated enough and I got similar effects on my film. Luckily another fixer/bleach bath cured it.

How long do you have to perform the 2nd fix before the film deteriorates, and is the mechanism light exposure?

I was thinking of Ian when I took the shot. It is Teasle (sp?) and invasive species to North America.

Ha, you've made me have a root through my archive for something teasel related. I didn't know they weren't also native to North America.

From a frosty morning about a year ago. AgfaVista 200 and, I guess, my 35 Summicron ASPH.

No, once the developer action has been neutralized, fixing can actually happen with lights on. My lab just gave the film another regular bath with the correct concentrations of chemicals. Over fixing can certainly cause problems but I’m not sure when does it start to be noticeable.

Thanks, I probably need to purchase a book on film processing instead of asking these 'rookie' questions.

Book recommendations anyone?

Just what I was hoping for. :) When I viewed them, I had my camera with me, but was not really expecting to find anything to shoot. The contrast they offer is incredible. I am going to start paying more attention to last year's fauna.....................And maybe give it a bit more exposure next time.

Next time you come into my neighborhood to shoot you need to call!!!!!  :-)!

Ha ha, Marc will attest to how many times I mentioned your name that morning and all the suggestions that I made that we need to grab you next time (and I was admittedly thinking to myself that we should have grabbed you that time as well :) )

This is the truth...lets give it another go soon before it gets too cold.   Adam...I think I left the Park about 2:30 that day, my watch said I walked 6.3miles...one thing it failed to add was the 20+ pounds I was carrying on my back.

I really like all the colors in this shot; especially throughout the water.

Thanks.  As Steve Ricoh often comments about B&W film, these photos that are unmistakably color film are for me the most sublime :)

Ooh, backlit teasels - now what does that remind me of?  Ah yes, something spotted in France last year.  (M7, C-Sonnar 50mm, Acros100).
