Wayne - this Minox spy camera is really cooking in your hands - its pictures have an almost ethereal quality to them. Also, and I might well regret asking this, what is a "butt kit"?

I am sorry. It is a crude term used for ash tray.....Particularly a public ash tray. As smoking is forbidden in just about every public building, you will always find a designated smoking area- usually at the side entrance- outside of nearly every hotel in U.S.. Here is  a far classier example of "Butt Kit" outside of a well run Hampton Inn. :)

A rare trip to Walmart yesterday resulted in a  a new furry friend.....Pedro, a "rescue" chihuahua. I was making a quick dash for the check-out, came around a corner, and there he was. Took a few minutes to pet and scratch, and had to say a regretful farewell. Here he is motoring off to the toy department.

James - that minilux and you are producing some outstanding work. You have obviously found a partner you are very comfortable and happy with!

It's almost unbelievable that you're taking such high quality photos with the minilux, James. Beautiful work!

Thank you for your kind words. The Minilux is a real gem and much fun to use. Its lens has a fantastic quality and its exposure is almost every time spot on. It might have its flaws (tiny viewfinder, shortest exposure time of 1/400s, no memory for the latest settings), but it is solid as a tank, easy to handle and tiny compared to many other cameras, even my beloved Leica M4-P or M3. I have managed to get a lot of really beautiful pictures on my road trip and will be able to print a wonderful book for me and my son.

This is another shot from Paris:

Holy Sh$t!!  So much to comment on within so little time!   I need an assistant! :)

Richard - Thanks very much for the compliment!  It is strange, but once I am up and going I find being awake a these hours exhilarating and I get so much energy from it for the rest of the day.  On the other hand, on the days that I slept in, upon waking up I found myself feeling like I was missing out on something, and that feeling lingered with me all day and I was much more sluggish.  I had a blast with myself along those windy road driving 140-170 KPH in my rented SEAT (I actually went through three rented cars in 4 weeks) listening to American "feel good" music on a   Jordanian radio station (Bliss 104.3), and in particular the "Rise & Shine" morning show hosted by Tamer and Ban. :)  http://www.bliss.jo/rise-shine.php  To much information, I know, but those were some of the best times of my (family) vacation.   I mean, just listen to this video clip that I took from my car of the radio music that was playing while, in the middle of nowhere, I was watching about a thousand birds fly in sync like they were part of a Broadway show!

As for your reciprocity failure question with Ektar, it is very simple - get this app for your iphone

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/reciprocity-timer/id459691262?mt=8

It gives RF adjustments for just about all film stocks and I find the adjustments for Ektar to be spot on.  The chart you have below is way off base with what I use, which is essentially (and look at the app for the very exact)

Unadjusted exposure time - Adjusted exposure time

1 sec - 1 sec

2 sec - 2 sec

4 sec - 6 sec

8 sec - 14 secs

15 secs - 30 sec

30 secs - 1:08 mins

1 mins - 2:39 mins

You've inspired me to try to drag my lazy self out of bed at 5am. I definitely can't promise the same results or even that I'll actually get up, but I will try!
A sunrise photo expedition is almost always a reward in itself, just to be there, I've got lazy whilst you've been very busy. :)

And just to pick your brains Adam (or anyone else who's given it a stab)... how are you handling Reciprocity with Ektar?

Kodak Alaris's uninspiring advice for >1 second is to 'make tests'.

Then there's this oft-quoted table floating around the web, source unknown:

Thanks, Christoph.  So are so right!

Adam,

Photos like those should always be printed! I am sure they are a joy to see in this form. Well done!

Rgds

Christoph

I really like this on in particular.  The pencil grays really compliment  the geometric bokeh

A couple of older ones on HP5+ from the Venice beach area.

I know who the first one is (Ai Weiwei?) but the second???

And whilst I'm on topic, an artwork (in Sydney) by Ai Weiwei, Forever.

Really nice Edward.  If these don't bring back Henry, I think we should call Interpol!!

This one is stellar, Wayne.  I really like it!!
