I think this was with the Hexar Af (a bit of a favourite of mine despite the 1/250 limit on the shutter) - Evening, at Kirra beach (Gold Coast, Qld., Australia) - sorry I don't remember the film

P.S. I love clouds  :)

Yes superb clouds Dan and beautiful landscape

Thank you for posting

Yes it performs quite well stopped down a bit. Mine is from 1950.

That 28 Hektor is so crisp! how old is it?

Thanks Wayne. I always enjoy your 50mm Hektor shots. It's a lens I've considered too. The 2,8cm often falls in the collector's category, or so I have been told. Mine was included in the Leica II kit I bought several years ago and I have found it to be a delightful lens. It is extremely prone to flare so I bought a 3D party hood for it from China for like 2 USD (the original hood is definitely collectors' territory, insane). It is great for a zone focus street shooting lens with ISO 400 film.

I have affection for the "dogs," be they four legged, or made of metal and glass. I am particularly fond of the Hektors. It is a funny thing, early on, as I considered what lenses to buy, most all information I came across on the various Hektor lenses was uncomplimentary. At the time, there were very few examples of photographs taken with 28mm 6.3 or 50mm 2.5 Hektors available for viewing on the web.

I have been porting around a Plaubel Roll-Op, the Topcon R, and my trusty IID with 50mm 2.5 Hektor attached. I own and use way too much gear, but, of late, the IID and Hektor are always with me. I lack the experience and knowledge of most on this forum and find it a real joy to partake with all of you. For me, at this stage, the 50mm 2.5 Hektor is a somewhat perfect playground: its imperfections always surprise, I never expect exactly what I have seen, but rather, a surprisingly amazing view I could never otherwise have enjoyed.......It amazes me in the same way kaleidoscopes amazed me in my youth.

Thanks for the shots. I love them............both; but especially the first.

Wayne

Love the colours and the composition on this one.

Wayne - thanks for writing that - the way you express things in that second paragraph sums up what I am sure many of us feel is the charm of using old glass, on film.

Wonderful popping colours Phil, may I ask what film you used?

Thanks a lot Steve - I had to repost this as I'd replaced the original photo on my Zenfolio page and all the details were with my original post. This was taken on 6X7 format using Velvia 50.

Thank you Phil for your kind words. It was drizzling and getting dark on the piazza, and I saw the lady with her umbrella just a bit too late to picture her from the front, so I made a picture (when she was leaving) but had to use a rather long shutter time. I think that accounts to the painterly effects - at times it is worthwhile to experiment!

Oh Christoph - what a brilliant thing to do! I can only imagine what different perspectives a walk such as that might have suggested for you - in all aspects of life. Nietzsche said that the greatest ideas are conceived while walking, and who can argue? Can't wait to see more of the pictures as they unfold.

Speaking of which, that second picture is a masterpiece. It is as if, even at your starting point, you have absorbed the thoughts and culture of the Renaissance and of that most cultured of cities and this immersion has immediately been channeled into this photograph. What a brilliant picture.

Philipus, thank you. It is definitely a film that is not suited to all situations, but once acquainted to its quirks and idiosyncrasies I found it a joy to make use of them for my purposes.

I like this one Christoph, looks old-fashioned painterly somehow. Not my favourite film but here it works very well indeed, I think.

Thank you.

Wow, these pictures are absolutely amazing. To me your choice of film seems perfect, as the visual effect you achieved suits the subjects in an outstanding way. I'm truly and deeply impressed! Looking forward to your next contributions.

Thank you.

great capture !

very subtle but also sexy !

Thank you, the painterly effect was exactly what I was after.

Wonderful both, like paintings, the second being my favourite, so enjoyable to look at. Surely only film could render in this way, and if anyone wanted a reason for switching from digital, or at least trying film, I'd show them these marvellous photos. Can't wait to see some more of these.

Thank you.

wonderful!

Thanks!

I wish I had taken that - terrific!
