I shot my second roll of Washi 120 rice paper film the other day ...

They were scanned with the Leica SL using a BEOON and Macro-Elmarit-R 60mm lens. Here's the capture setup:

I'm finally getting the hang of this film and how to process and render it. Perhaps something exciting will develop when I shoot the third roll... :D

Put quite simply, this is where art and photography converge in my mind. The ideal application of photography.

Thanks Wayne. He was painting at the time - I remember that. I think he was also speaking with some friends/family/acquaintances - it was at an arts centre co-operative, so the people around him were artists too. A wonderful place, person and experience.

 

BTW that low ISO colour film you're using looks intriguing! Is it tungsten balanced? It looks like the blues are prominent in the colour mix. Would be a great film for certain projects, but difficult for general purpose photography!

I find something about the look intriguing. After viewing the results for some time, it occurred to me that the appearance- at least to my eye- is similar to the view in very strong moonlight, or during that brief period, daybreak, when the things around you become more than just shadows. In order to stalk the wily, North American Turkey one must enter the woods well before daybreak. I would spend my time in the darkness trying to perceive that exact moment when daylight began to reveal the world. It always escaped me.....the transitory moment.

 

I think, from a practical use stanpoint, it reveals the things about an object or scene, most imposing......maybe the first things that trigger the mind. I am going to do some black and white conversions.

Big Smile. When I was shooting the ISO 1.3 stuff, I was using my Sekonic Twin-mate (Lowest ISO reading, 12) and increasing exposure a couple of stops. I think I needed another stop. This is great. I just purchased, yesterday, some Velvia 50 in 120, I am inspired.
