Michael Hiles Posted May 16, 2017 Share #32682 Posted May 16, 2017 (edited) Michael, love the feeling of Africa imparted by the acacia. Shame about the changed landscape though. Thanks Charles Michel it reminds me one film movie "Out of Africa" It's beautiful Thanks for posting Henry Thank you both. The attitude to the environment is (as everywhere) a bit mixed. The lake is valued, but so is the economic value of the farms in the distance - they grow flowers and if you buy a bouquet, there is a good chance that what you buy comes from Kenya - so supporting the economy with lake water has some practical merit. But there is generally a sense that the environment is crucial. In another area we watched a family of Cheetahs playing with a plastic bag out on the savannah - when they lost interest in the bag two drivers/guides chased down the plastic bag and removed it. The savannah was spotless and there was much annoyance that someone would have left a plastic bag outside and endangered the animals and environment. Local residents are quite vigilant. Interestingly, Crescent Island (close to my picture) has a rough airstrip, which was used to film "Out Of Africa", and Karen Blixen's name (and house) are much revered in Kenya. Flying to and from very rural areas in Kenya involves air strips in the middle of nowhere with no air traffic control what so ever - just a gravel strip and small aircraft. We were in a small Cessna that carried up to 12 passengers and which I found very claustrophobic. In-flight service consisted of the pilot handing back a bag of candies. A Gravol pill helped my stomach. We were there by invitation through the Canadian High Commission - a trip we might otherwise not have made - that would have been a life mistake. Guest )-( Posted May 17, 2017 Share #32697 Posted May 17, 2017 The reflection from many pages ago (as a couple of you had asked) was, I think(!), a double one, showing what was in front reflected from behind me - from these shiny, corporate/public space things/art objects installed in a newly homogenised area of Sydney (Darling Harbour Mk.2) I do love complex reflections and frames inside frames. I should probably use an SLR really rather than the rangefinder/TLR/SWC that I do use, that are probably the least practical tools for this purpose but then it wouldn't be nearly as much fun. A more straightforward reflection from the same shiny things. M3, 50APO, Delta 400
