Agreed. I find myself dragging down the highlights on snow scenes as I don't like blank white (even if it was blank white).

Understood, Chris.  But not to quibble, but "blank white" would seem to be more like EVs of 9 and 10; whereas the brightest whites in the very last shot you posted seemed to be in the 6-7 range.  Would have thought that shifting the highest EV up one or two might provide a little more pop.  But just my opinion.  The midtones are very rich, almost unfairly so !

The "Grand Final"s children visiting New York ? It has the same charm and character as that great photo of yours. Great shot.

Thank you sincerely Wayne. It took a while for me to understand the reference to the "Grand Final's children" until I realized you meant this picture I'd posted earlier:

Anyway I appreciate very much your comment - and your memory!

Speaking of the 35mm Summicron, I used the same lens at the Top of the Rock in New York last August (I don't think I've posted this picture before, apologies if I have). It is so small, which makes the combination not so threatening-looking, it makes for a wonderful candid lens.

Nice picture Phil , well captured  :)

Once again the Summicron is really a good lens

There is also the photographer who composes, frame ... but a good camera with a good cell measuring light

definitely gives a plus to the picture. This is the case here.

I do not agree to take any camera , in this case take the picture with your iPhone ! :D

They are right there above the photo - 120 format XP2, 18 minutes in HC-110 1+49, 20ºC, presoak in water for three minutes, agitate by inversion four times each minute, stop and fix as per usual. As I said to Philip, I haven't yet done a 35mm XP2 at 1600, and it will probably not be as smooth as the 120, but I will give it a try one of these days. But today it's raining hard, so not today

I'm reading this article for darkroom inspiration instead, along with this one. Wow. Humbling.

Since it rained all day, I retreated into the dark, with a negative from a strip of Plus-X developed in Qualls' monobath in May 2015. You have seen the scanned version in the past:

This is printed on Ilford MG IV, f5.6 for 7.5 secs @ grade 0 and 12.5 secs @ grade 5, developed in Ilford Multigrade developer:

I think I should have done half and half grade 0 and grade 5 to darken the highlights a bit more. Learning as I go!

Fill flash photo of friends at lunch. The M6TTL does a decent job at flash exposure.
