Advertisement Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 Hi welshtog, Take a look here I like film...(open thread). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Michael Hiles Posted March 23, 2017 Share #29502 Posted March 23, 2017 3200 ASA is four stops under exposed – based on XP2’s ideal ASA of 200. That is a bit tough even for XP2. Ilford says that up to 800, as I remember, will produce usable negatives. What is less clear – why would this be happening on some frames and not all? That suggests something mechanical or electrical. If you are using a meter (built in or hand held), could it be being fooled somehow? Are the thin negative of scenes that are somehow “non-standard” enough to provide an incorrect or misleading reading, resulting in negatives that are thinner then even 3200 ASA would imply?

Doc Henry Posted March 23, 2017 Author Share #29504 Posted March 23, 2017 Here is the 35mm XP2 at 3200. I don't care for the texture very much - it looks like 3200! Experiment in Push Processing 9 by chrism229, on Flickr Experiment in Push Processing 7 by chrism229, on Flickr I'll stick with 1600 for pushing 120 film, and I'll have to find out if the 35mm will tolerate 1600 or whether that ought to be limited to 800. Chris I think Chris that a print will be nice for Pippa portrait in this style ! The grain is regular and fine. Best Henry

philipus Posted March 23, 2017 Share #29507 Posted March 23, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Eoin and Charles, thank you very much. it's also one of my own favourites from the photos I shot in Kenya and Tanzania during that trip. I remember when I took it. We were driving back from a whole day in the Masai Mara when our guide suddenly stopped and pointed into the fields. For a very long time we saw nothing but then the wind must have moved the grass a bit and we could see her eyes. I shot a few frames but this is the best one. These are both great, Philip, but the 2nd one is spectacular. I can see this as a large print on a wall. This image is truly amazing Philip. You were in her sights and she was being the true curious cat! ThanksCharles These are incredible Henry, where does one find these ballooning events? Must be extremely fun to go there and photograph, not to mention flying in one of those things. For Gary as promisedTwo pictures just scan. I can certainly believe this is becoming a problem. Pippa has been fascinated by your lions (as you know, she knows the masai mara well). Apparently there aren't so many left and there is difficulty in convincing the young masai boys that they need not, and ought not to kill a lion to symbolise their transition to warriorhood. Chris Delightful Charles, as if the horse decided to strike a pose when it saw the camera Welcome back Henry! My sincere commiserations at your loss, though no flowers from me I'm afraid may I brighten this moment with a recent photo from a place I am fond of ...
