Chris , Quad a great english preamplifier with beautiful sound.

Picture is also nice. Why without grain?

The grain is pretty and photo software wants to imitate the grain of the film

The MM monochrom has no grain but smooth the square pixels of the lines and edges,

made them too sharp , too agressive , not pleasant for eyes !

Best

Henry

Lovely to have you back, Henry! I have been experimenting with pull and push processing XP2 in HC-110. Since I still hear that it either isn't possible or not advisable to use B&W chemicals with this chromogenic film, I thought I'd see just what it can really be made to do. I never expected to push a film to ISO 3200 and have it come out as smooth as that - hence the comment about the Monochrom.

Chris

Who sold his Monochrom and has no regrets.

Your colours, at 38º, are better than mine at the standard temperature. Mind you, the B&W photo is still the best for me.

And one thought I had when I saw same subject, similar camera/lens, was what would the colour neg look like "converted".

Feel like trying that Henry?

Henry, it's good to have you back my friend we've all missed you and sincerely sympathise with your loss.

Keep posting. Your enthusiasm keeps us all going and motivated to try harder to make photos with film that will stand the test of time.

Best wishes

Christopher

Hi Henry

You don't know me, but I know your wonderful pictures and all your nice comments in this open thread. For the last three weeks I missed this very much! Thanks for coming back! Until now I'm a silent reader, already for quite a long time. 2015, after 15 years of digital photography I discovered film again, I love film photography with my M6 and from friday on with my new MP. I'm looking forward to post here some of my pictures in a nice atmosphere without destructive criticism like in other (german) threads.

Well I went and did it. XP2 Super at 3200, developed in HC-110 1+49 for 24 minutes. No grain!

If you click on the link there's a 4096x4096 85% JPEG. Click on that to see at 100% All this effort to make a file that could have come out of the Monochrom!

Chris

Chris - Incorrect - there are no ugly blown highlights in your photo - so couldn't possibly look like it came from a Monochrom...

Hi Henry - I am very sorry for your loss.  It is good to have you back, however.  I still have plenty of snow blizzard photos for you :)
