My friend don't hesitate to post here. I too had to think long and hard before posting here, but take courage and just do it like you have. These are great shots in situations, I for one, will never come across. And they are rich in atmosphere, light and dark, culture, people - life!

I think they are great and so grateful that you've taken the time to share.

I agree this thread is the best and challenges us all to lift our game!

Have a great day!

Best wishes

Christopher

A break from the snowdrops (though I'll pester you with more soon, and then some crocuses (or is that croci? :) ))

I shall look forward to those. I'm a bit ambivalent about snowdrops (as I am with bluebells) but crocuses are another matter – a really exquisite sight.

Posted same scene, shot with Semflex LTM 6x6, a while back. This is shot with M7, MS Opitical 50mm 1.1 Sonnetar, and Delta 400.

Wayne I was very tempted by this lens myself. From unfortunate experience I found the optics very delicate and as in your shot, vignetting is par for the course.

I had a 21mm once, while I liked central definition edges were often dark and soft. It was going to make my M6 easier to carry, but I sold it in the end out of frustration.

Your shot will have us all interested and envious of this petite gem!

Kind regards

I own three lenses from MS: 35mm Perar; 35mm Zeiss lens (purchased from Hamish at 35mmc.com,) which was converted from a Nikon compact film camera to M mount; this 50mm 1.1 Sonnetar. I enjoy the results from all of them. One thing, pervasive in all of my MS lenses, is fiddliness (sp?). Every time I use any of the three, I have several conversations with Mr. Miyazaki. :)

One of the RAFs new A400 Transport Aircraft and some low flying practice over the Lake District. Just wish I could have had a little more notice I could have put on a longer lens! .......

The Airbus A400M aka the Atlas in RAF service.  They make an unmistakeable noise!

Keith my friend are those very grainy skies or a sign of the picture compression I'm getting from the iPhone app. I've noticed a distinct degradation in the reproduction quality on my iPhone app over the last week. I had real problems uploading evening shots of the Worms Head on the weekend. They look like images made with porridge.

Lovely pics. (Ol' Henry has been absent for two weeks now - it's unusual now. Just wonder how long his humanitarian missions usually take, do you know?)

Kind regards

Personally, I do not think telephoto would do anything for this photo opportunity. It seems most photos of aircraft show them in close-up, or as small specks in the sky. This seems perfect. Thanks.

Thanks, Christopher. Re 'grainy skies' they are on 35mm HP5+ so yes there is grain. However, on my iMac screen the pics on this page do not appear to be suffering too much from image compression compared with what was uploaded.

I decided today to start exploring just how flexible XP2 is in terms of varying its development in black and white chemicals. For my first experiment I thought I'd see if can be pulled with extra exposure and reduced development to reduce contrast, so I selected some scenes around the house involving windows to see if I could get the relatively dark interior properly exposed and yet not have the windows pure white. My starting point was to double the exposure by exposing it at an EI of 200, and I halved my usual development (same HC-110, 1+49, 20ºC) to 4 minutes. The photographs aren't intended to be artistic statements, but simply technical subjects.

All came out a bit dark, but easily rescued. I should probably try EI 100 and the same development next.

I think they are quite acceptable, but I'll note that Rodinal isn't best known for fine grain!

Yes on my Mac they seem ok too, but on the Tapatalk app the images render horribly, they didn't use to.

Thanks Keith

Best Wishes
