chrism Posted March 3, 2017 Share #28921 Posted March 3, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) what cartridge ......... I used an Benz LPs with mine before I sold it A Decca London Reference (though I have a couple of Benz cartridges in the drawer that will be used again if the Reference ever breaks - I shall never be able to afford to replace it!) I have since learned that the biggest difference to vinyl sound that I could make was to use a Loricraft record cleaner. Most LPs will become silent or nearly silent with respect to surface noise after a good cleaning.

MarkP Posted March 4, 2017 Share #28923 Posted March 4, 2017 (edited) Nice Adam. I've always had an interest in that quirky Minolta but never used one. The only other ultracompact (other than my Contax T3) that has interested me. Should you chose to get a Contax T3 in the future please pm me as there are a few things to look out for. You're going compact and I'm going the other way. Ready for 6x7: Welcome, dear visitor! gsgary Posted March 4, 2017 Share #28925 Posted March 4, 2017 Hi Adam How are things- are you hiding Henry? He has us all intrigued. Perhaps you can draw him out with one of your snow storm gems? I think we all love those. By the way any tips for getting interesting pics in plain grey wet miserable weather- it's all I got this weekend. Regards Christopher Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk It's all we have most weekends at the moment thats why it's been a while since i posted a photo, what i do is shoot 400 film at 800 in the daytime to give it a bit more pop

I've just finished my weekly food shop while my wife and daughter are rehearsing for the next theatre school play in Neath based around Roald Dahl's Matilda. So now it's decision time. I'm very tempted to get my lights out and take some gear shots. I've never done before. For me my gear is for shooting not putting on display, but it seems useful for these forums. Quietly I feel quite guilty about the film gear I have put together, but it all has a place and purpose. A miller Posted March 5, 2017 Share #28934 Posted March 5, 2017 (edited) Tri - Thanks a lot. I'm still holding my breath on whether I will get some infamous errant light leaks. But it could well be my go to ultracompact solution. As for the XA-4, the overall concept seems cool but I am not sure whether there is an ability to change to aperture of the lens. I can't find anything on the web that says that you can. Do you know? As for inclement weather conditions, neither the TC-1, XA-4, nor any other old compact film camera would survive very well out in one of our blizzards. I would only use my Leicas for this... New TC-1 - lucky you Sincere congratulations!Still thinking, that a XA 4 with its flash would be perfect for your street photography during blizzards. No focus patch at all, just one time/apperture setting in flash mode, your only exposure control by tricking the ASA setting - or having a technician bloc the apperture fully open. The gorgeous TC-1 with the AF would be too much of fragile beauty in such weather conditions. Yes, Mark, I thought of you in that dusty little camera shop last week. Was thinking that this is just the kind of find that would give you a rise. The price wasn't really the biggest issue - it just didn't feel as sexy as the TC-1. It was much more utilitarian in the hands and in the IQ. Speaking of sexy, looks like you got yourself a fox there. A chick magnet for sure - watch out!! And it looks like that Tri-X was made in the same year as the camera?? I am waiting for the results... The 320 Tri-X belongs to the friend who owns the camera. He's a professional scanner and post-processor. The film, which expired 06/2012 has been on ice since he bought. He has another 9 rolls and wants to use it on a future personal photographic project in India so asked me to test a roll for him. I'd appreciate your thoughts on the camera when you've used it more as I might have some TC-1 GAS too :-) Here's a nice backup TC-1 for you: https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/caulfield-east/non-digital-cameras/minolta-tc-1/1131750784 Edited March 5, 2017 by MarkP

Looking forward to the results.
