Oddly enough, in viewing the photo, I would say the pizza guy has an expression of: "Who stands around taking photos at 10am in the middle of a brutal snow blizzard?" :)

Nice shadow on the near grave. Looks like the Stephens family have a presence in the locality. 44 is no age to die (the Brigadier's daughter).

Still shooting the Trip 35 and Eastman 5222. These were all dev'd in D96 for 7m.

They are from a trip to Washington D.C. this last weekend. We only packed the two Trip 35's, a Pen EE-S 2 as a backup and some clothes just in case. My other camera's feel like bricks now. :)

1.) Taco Truck at lunch on DC street.

2.) Shoes taken off of the Jews before their murders.

3.) Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Changing of the Guard Ceremony.

4.) My wife and I in front of the Marine Memorial in Arlington. (This was taken with the Trip on a gorillapod, with a air-actuated shutter release. You can see the air tube coming from my wife's right hand.)

Something for the film nerds amongst us (all of us?). I usually take more than one frame of a given subject and just happened to be at the end of a roll of Portra so took the next photo after having reloaded with the Fuji 400H. Unintentionally I have a couple of photos that enable a comparison to be made between the films which I find quite interesting. Nothing scientific of course: the photos are handheld and the light may have changed a little in the time it took me to rewind one film and load the other. Interesting that I managed a slightly wonky horizon in both photos – at least I am consistent. :)

Thanks for the great comparison. Recently, one of my most constant film considerations, whether 400H is worth the considerable premium demanded, had me leaning toward, yes. Looking at this, I am not so sure.

Did you process these yourself? I like both of the results presented. For some reason, when I have processed the two films, I seem to get better results from the Fuji film. It may also be related to the fact that I have been shooting so many different antique film cameras that I have not really given the films a fair comparison from the same cameras.

Considering the limitations of the comparison, it just confirms why I've always preferred Kodak over Fuji greens.

Yes, it does at least confirm my impression that you get slightly colder greens with Fuji (and by extension the rebranded fuji films like Agfa Vista) but I still rather like the Fujifilm 400H palette. For what it's worth, I think Portra has the edge on sharpness and grain – the 400H looks more like what we expect of a 400 speed film. I'm about 75/25 decided in favour of Portra 400 at the moment. :D

I didn't process them myself but they were processed by the lab at the same time so I assume they received equal 'treatment'. My own take is that I think the 400H is good film and has an appealing palette that is distinctive enough that, if you like it, it's worth paying for. In the UK Portra 400 has been increasing in price recently to the extent that, depending upon where you shop, the price differential isn't that great with the Fuji film (though the latter is still the most expensive 400 speed C41 film).

Staying with Keith's church theme, a lovely church in the middle of nowhere near Ilminster in Somerset. Fujifilm 400 Pro H and 28 Summaron.

I quite like how the Fuji film handles the pink colour of the flowers in this photo.

Could you take these again on digital and apply Lightroom presets then we could really compare!

I prefer the warmth of the Portra on this one. Both are very fine though.
