Ingrid sorry but I had a few rolls of Bergger to try and I also had a few rolls of Kodak. I have taken in different places

but at the time I had only one M7.Now I have 2 and I will repeat some film tests soon

Ingrid and James, thank you for the reply and the interest you have to distinguish between the two films :)

Looking at the crop of the two photos, from a general point of view, Kodak has more black and finer grains which

gives a little more clearly than Bergger with less fine grains.

For portrait, perhaps Bergger give more value to the skin pores and may be is better

Both are nice ....but also according to the taste of each, it's a little charm side of the film,

as said a famous photographer "each film is a new sensor" :)

Best regards

Henry

I thought I read somewhere that Bergger film is Kentmere film ? Made by Ilford

The "resolution" and the "discriminatory" power of film is remarkable.

The focus is the light outside, but I can see all the details of the face of the lady !

Gary thank you for the information. I find Bergger has a little more large grains than Ilford . Do you agree ? If it's Ilford , then it's better to buy Ilford :)

Otto, it is correct that there would have flare with Summicron 28

this has been discussed here:

http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m-lenses/357403-leica-summicron-28-asph-flare.html

I personally have a coded lens bought new and it seems that Leica has reviewed the problem

At the moment I have not noticed flare .... but it could happen :)

http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php/28mm_f/2_ASPH_Summicron-M

A fabulous lens weights only 270g very light, with a group of 9 lenses

I post this photo (again) because I find that the colors are beautiful and without correction ...

it's Kodak Portra 400 , the red color is beautiful :)

we even see a child at right with nosebleed, good definition and resolution !

Never met flare with this lens when I owned it. Some people think they can use lenses without hoods and start discussions here. Optically speaking the 28 Cron is one of the most flareresistantn lenses from Leica. But of course you can always produce flare with any lens if you hold in the right angle towards the lightsource.

What I meant here is the well textured shadows in her face and the full colors in the image where there is light in front: that is also most probably due to the flare resistance of this lens.
