At last on Saturday afternoon just gone I had a few hours to spare and headed for the Gower coast some 40 minutes drive from Neath to a small village called Southgate. There is a coastal walk there which is always picturesque. But this is our winter and it was 5°c and the ground was muddy and in part covered by broken sheets of ice from the previous night. By the time I got there was just one and a half hours of daylight left. Here's just a small taste of a rare clear sunny Welsh sky in winter bathing our coast with its golden glow.

Tonight a few shots showing the spectrum of light during that time. All taken with Leica M6 TTL on Kodak Portra 400 developed in Tetenal Sunday afternoon.8ebd6a291a3ca64226a51547fd72a4f5.jpgbb4a71b31e3f6f625c5fe9f6d571eb44.jpg46054a2df13fc8775e865fda17b0db14.jpg

Until tomorrow, it's good night from me. Thanks for all the inspirational shots today, fantastic!

Best wishes

Thanks for showing.

Sorry, I should have cropped the last shot. It was the last frame in a strip and it didn't sit correctly in the holder when I scanned it. Looks like it curled a little at the edge on the right. Too tired to have noticed last night when I posted.

Are the colors supposed to be this way ?

Hi

It's pretty close to what we get around here just before sun down. The second shot was when the sun was coming through some hazy cloud and being pretty low over the sea, that's what happens. It's a case of capturing those precious few moments. The last shot was about 45 min before dark. Had to get back to the car after that, everybody was heading home, no lighting around the bridleway.

I've got some pretty unbelievable skies from around here, but everybody captures them here. It's not unusual.

When I began photographing seriously as a teenager I was often mesmerised by sunsets and dramatic skies and I loved using Velvia 50 for them, pushed a stop for extra saturation. I don't shoot sunsets as often these days, but I still love them and when I see one that is particularly lovely I find it hard not to take a few frames. Some say shooting sunsets is silly photography but I disagree.

This is from the Stockholm archipelago in August 2015. In the coming days I'll bore you with a few more from this location.

Philip I like much to take sunset ot sunrise because that's the only moment of the journey , you can have beautiful colors , specially for the clouds and sky. Your picture give me this argument

Very nice and faithful color and I add a clear color. Fuji Provia also brings a part in this "limpid" beauty

Back to Jerusalem and the wonderful colors from the market on film...

M-A, 28mm elmarit pre-asph, Portra 400

These fruits (except for the mangos in the top right) are all from cacti.  I bought them on a regular basis.  They have very subtle sweetness but are loaded with antioxidants - and colors :)

#2

#3 - You know you're in the right place when you find merchant who specialize in (pretty much) only grapes.... :)

I am admiring in front of these colors . Gorgeous

Adam I'm in love with this kind of color . Thanks for sharing

Best

Henry

You want to see the colors of the M10 Cmos ? Here they are (a little "synthetic" and

looks like the M9 CCD)

I'm afraid you've got the wrong Christopher.

I'm the one from South Wales who develops in the kitchen using Paterson tank and Tetenal . I posted a photo with you for a chap who wanted to know what he needed to take up film developing a couple of weeks ago.

These are from my Plustek scanner. Colour balance neutral and no changes to RGB. My friend in work lives in Southgate and takes shots like this on his iPhone all the time.

I did introduce a slight vignette on the last shot to try and cover up the bad edge on the right. It didn't work. I have cropped it since.

Photos in time sequence over last 1.5 hrs of daylight. Amazing place here, but it's rare to have no grey depressing clouds from North Atlantic drift.

But in short, yes. The photos were taken in about half an hour. The end of day light changes fast here. I would say every 3 minutes a different look.

So it's fine now. As I develop myself color I notice that sometimes I have a little cast

for only some pictures. They need only a little correction in LR

Thanks for your reply Chris

Nice series of landscapes.. it's a good place to photograph !

I don't like changing colours in Lightroom or Photoshop as I need someone to tell me if they are right. I will have to live with what I get.

Because of the orange sunlight changing everything, it can look odd. Nobody in work with today says they look wrong. Everybody shows me photos they took on iPhones. The grass on our coast is coarse and burnt by wind and in that light looks like another planet.
