I particularly like all the lines in the 2nd shot - The more I look, the better it gets!

Thanks Eoin, I have to get up very early to catch the local beaches in their 'freshly brushed' state.

Very nice scene Herny. I can smell the mud, hear the seagulls.

Gary,

it could be haze also, have you had a look thru the lens against a bright light source ?!

Best, Jean-Marc.

I'll investigate a bit more JM, it has my dander up now. If I can fix it with minimal cost/frustration then for sure I will.

It would certainly be nice to use the camera more.

Henry,

"schmootz" is a slang word invented by Adam I believe, I'll give him the credit anyway.

A selection of his early Cinestill rolls exhibited a random pattern of yellowy colour like sludge on the negs.

It was more noticeable against a uniform sky, his life is a Beach series especially.

Some shots it was very pronounced, others quite minimal or non-existent. It was definitely a defect and initial thoughts were development, but more latterly it appears it is film manufacture based. I think?

Gary

Henry,

Apparently it's a word derived from the German "Schmutz" (English translation: dirt) and used first in this thread by Adam to indicate the presence of disturbing black smudges or stains on Cinestill photos of his, stains that have a particular disturbing inclination to appear in bright blue skies. No idea how to pronounce it though, Adam should know.

Ha, ha, Gary is right.  And so is Christoph, although for me the word seems to be more common amongst the Yiddish circles, which of course is based on German.

It was the first thought that came to my mind when I saw it on my film scans

Here is a shocker...

How did I end up with this exposure when I thought I had Ektar 100 in my film back but really had TMax 400???

Central Park, Hassy 503cw, 80mm Planar, Tmax 400

Adam,

The grayscale looks good, as far as one can fathom from the internet; despite your abominable mistreatment. Imagine how Velvia or even Ektar would have reacted!? Having said that, Tmax400 is a magical emulsion - creamily smooth. And you show a classic view from central park, nicely executed.

Adam it's a superb picture in b&w . Why ?

We can see different plans of trees with the building in background with a "soft" definition

not agressive than in digital because of the accentuation of the structure.

The black white and grey scale highlights this impression.

As said Gary, it's due to the "latitude" of film !

I bought recently 10 rolls of this film to test . I'll post the results for you.

Very nice composition and thanks for posting Adam

Gary the first for the position with the cane and the second provocative and stimulating side

Both have nice black and white tonality and nuance

Well done

Yes Adam it's fine for me. The manner of presentation and the choice of photos is judicious.
