Very nice Henry. This brings me back to an inter-rail trip in the mid-90s. A few friends and I decided to use the two-week study period before the (whole-semester) exam on criminal and procedural law to travel around Europe, including this area of France. Turned out to be one of my best exam results.

Thanks for the feedback Gary.  The second picture uses a funky florescent paint which made the reds/oranges jump off the wall (to me). This is what caught my eye for the shot.  Knowing I had Portra in my camera, I figured this effect would have been muted or lost.  I was quite surprised how vivid the colors turned out; I was ready to go back with some Velvia.   To my eyes, you see what I saw with hardly any editing in post.  I'm starting to realize Porta is a WYSIWYG film, with plenty of flexibility to make it what you want.

Indeed Marc, based on what you have posted, and bearing in mind we don't know how vivid (or not) the original scene was.

I'd say though, Portra would have to be by far and away easier to use, exposing wise and processing wise, surely.

Thanks Henry...I plan to print the Sub for sure, I prefer the content much more.   I took the other shot to see how Portra would render, bright, vibrant colors.  I've read, perhaps incorrectly, that Portra is not the choice for "Bright/Vibrant" when it comes to color.  I guess everyone has a different view on  "Bright/Vibrant".  I find that if the scene lacks bright color, perhaps due to light, Portra will produce what you see.  Same holds true in the opposite direction.  I've now used it across multiple cameras and lenses, all providing what I believe to be consistently deep, rich and accurate color with minimal to no need for post processing. I think I'm going to stick with this film as my go to color stock for most applications.

As I said to Gary vivid color and must be enlarge and print Marc :)

Very nice composition.

I'm a bit surprised to see how much grain you have on what appears to be scenes with plenty of light?  I've used Portra 400 and haven't experienced anything close.  Could this be the development process as opposed to the film stock?

Nice colour shots with the Portra, Marc !

For today, I chose this one. Film is Ilford HP5Plus ( unusual, mostly I use the Kodak TX ) - camera Leica IIIf / Elmar from 1936.

Photo shot in the south of France, Winter 2016

Special for Henry ( but for all of You aswell ) : the Lying Bouddha Henry posted his pic  - from a different angle. I took it in February 2016. Leica IIIf, Kodak TX400.

Also, I love colour, but I don't want to go for the "full" equipment again... also, I really want to limit everything to a minimum of technical luggage

Maybe I'm wrong for our time with this, but that's ok for me. I know my kids want different "Kicks" from pics. And that's also ok :-)
