Reflections in a fjord, Norway. Ektachrome 100 ASA nominal.

Selling corn on the cob in Stockholm; on Ektachrome 100 ASA nominal.

I have long stopped shooting slides and colour negatives. Whenever I now shoot film, it is always black and white. When I used to shoot slide, my choice was Ektachrome 100. I was never disappointed by its rendition, saturation, and grain. So, forgive me for being so annoyingly repetitive when mentioning slide type.

Paul two superb pictures

The yellow of corn is really yellow as in nature

A good point for Ektar

Here's some shot of my lovely Leica Minilux... I managed to find it in black and it looks so slick!

These were shot with Kodak 400 TMax developed in my bathroom in Ilfosol

Adam, How on earth did those trees/shrubs ever grow there in the first place? Were they there long before the Dead Sea expanded or something? I was out with my lightest tripod today, and while convenient it has a panning head which I suppose is really for video rather than a ball head. Perhaps I should use my medium tripod (generally reserved for 4x5). Anyway, Pippa was following me with her PanaLeica, here, here, unt hier. The film is drying at present, then we shall see if I have learnt anything at all about framing with the SWC's viewfinder. The groundglass is still a week away or more.

C.

Well, I don't know Chris!  And there wasn't anyone around to ask! :)  All I remember thinking was that I hope that I wasn't going to step into one of those sinkholes that people kept talking about!

Love the shots from Pippa; please send her my thanks.  It looks like we've gotten you on a tripod with your SWC.  Now we just need to see that prism finder poking out of it and the VF removed.  That will be a sight to see!

Hi Klaus - Awesome, as usual.  This one looks exactly like a street in downtown Jerusalem.  http://www.jpost.com/Israel-News/GALLERY-Colorful-umbrellas-float-above-Jerusalem-streets-seeking-to-draw-tourists-407667

Any chance it is?

That's why its called "dead sea" ... it kills equipment ... :)

Ha, ha.  It kills just about anything.  In fact, loitering really isn't an issue b/c any bottles or other rubbish left in or near the water quickly convert into a salt formation....

Philip,

I particularly enjoyed this photograph with its delights of subtle colour and disjointed elements. I could quite easily see it hanging in an exhibition of modern art!

Thanks

Charles

:) Oh and a brilliant photograph, true painting with light.

Charles

Yes Charles :)

A notice to fans of digital images

"Too much sharpness affects the artistic quality of the photo"

Pixelated pictures with megapixels race cameras where lines and edges are ultra "structured" by the camera software

Result : cut edges in the manner of surgery scalpel

Went to a car show this weekend; I shot Svema64 (a Russian film ISO 64; VERY contrasty) and my old standby Agfa Vista 400.
