Sort of filtered, but not through a paper filter. 🙂  Coffee made with a moka machine. I realised that I made a mistake digitising with the digital SLR. I used aperture priority whereas I should have used the same settings for all three. The colours may have been better. Here's a shot done a few years ago with Portra 160:

In the past in repro photography we always shot a grey chart first with all 3 separation filters for new films to get the middle grey to the same density. Usually 3 different times were necessary for the RGB separations. In order to control the grey balance in the quarter tones and 3/4 tones, highlights and depth masks had to be applied to achieve a good grey balance of the highlights, mid tones and depths. A huge effort for an image that was later printed in DyeTransfer. Some images needed a good 15 kg of masking film till they were final printed. Later the drumscanner did the separations. All the films for these purposes no longer exist anyway...
It was very interesting and it was more technically demanding than it is today. But I wouldn't want to go back there... ;)

"Facing Dementia (My Fly Fishing Mentor)"

This summer I went to Oregon to visit my uncle Dick -- who taught me fly fishing many years ago -- as he has been diagnosed with rapidly advancing dementia.  Spent a week with him, talking, laughing, and even a little bit of fishing, though he no longer really has the urge to do that much.

This was the last shot on a roll, hence the exposed tag end from bulk rolling.  This has not been retouched and I've left it low contrast (as it came out of the Sony A7II from being "scanned") as I think it fits how seeing Dick and his decline made me feel.

M6, lens unrecorded but most likely the Canon 50/1.8 LTM though it's possible it was the Nikkor 85/2 LTM; Fuji Acros (old version); Diafine.

Nice to see that there are other’s in this Forum with a similar sense of exploration. I hope you did not mind me mirroring your posts - sort of. Shall we continue with pinhole?

A curious exploration of double exposure. The hand on the throat gives it a sinister twist.

A nice portrait. Did you give him a copy? The equally distributed details and greys (and the smile) make this picture pleasant to look at. I imagine it works well printed large. (Btw, how did you develop the film?)

I think your picture captures perfectly the mood and affliction you describe - something that can happen to any of us.  Well done.

Hi Christoph, No not at all! Unfortunately I've never done pinhole photography so I can't follow you on that. It's something that I've been meaning to do though, with both film and paper negatives. One day I'll do it, I need to read more. I like the bikes in your image above. Was the film or paper wrapped around the inside edge of the tin? Did it cover 180°? I've seen other images done in cans that somehow capture the trajectory of the sun. Many by a Flickr friend, James, who takes a very experimental and playful approach to his photography. See his pinhole album here:

It's as if he is looking into a void, which under the circumstances is quite meaningful. If there's a more cruel disease, I'm not sure what it would be.
