I like the effect so much I’ve only gone and ordered a poor man’s version of the Thamber. 
(As a clue it comes in a 52mm screw-in thread. 😂)

That's great! You mean the black mist filter I suppose (not the vaseline)? Which density did you go for?

I'm interesting in seeing the results because I'd love be able to get the effect on a wide-angle. But I've not got high hopes, well none if I'm honest, because it's not that simple. For all the people who like to think it's a question of putting vaseline on the lens, a £5 filter or 5 minutes in Photoshop, I've yet to see anything that comes even remotely close. And the photos posted in the thread about this filter have somehow not quite managed to convience me.

Still, I hope you surprise me so I can get one for my 28mm.

Although I have the Tiffen black pro mist 1/2 I’ve just ordered a basic diffuser. The black pro mist works somewhat differently, I believe, by causing halation around bright concentrated light sources (I’ll edit later adding a reference to a picture a took with the Tiffen on film).  The diffuser on the other hand softens the image overall, typically used for portraiture back in the day before Photoshop.

James, Klaus, Steve, Phil – thank you for your very kind words. This is a project that's meant a lot to me personally and I'm very happy that it's finally completed. I'm definitely going to try to have it published at some point. Many former colleagues have shown a lot of interest in the images, so I am looking into how to do that.

It's interesting, I think, how the young (geologically speaking) and fragile human development seems to intrude in the landscape. Almost as if it doesn't belong there. Beautifully shot.

This is excellent Paul. As much as I agree that this photo stands on its own feet in monochrome, now that you've told us it used to be in colour I'm curious. Not that you have to show it but it's an interesting artistic approach to show an artist's studio in black and white. Come to think of it, are there any painters who paint (not charcoal sketch) in monochrome?

Lovely framing here Thomas. Did you add a slight toning too? It's very effective in conveying a certain atmosphere, almost Hitchockian somehow.

All of these macros are truly expertly executed, really well done. But this one takes the cake for me with its dreamy light.

This is such a beautiful scene. Ahat I like the most about it is that the sun isn't in the centre. It adds tension and somehow still manages to balance out the composition. It's very effective. And really great colour work too. I always find it tricky to retain blues when there are lots of purple and magenta in the sky. I bet this would look fantastic printed large on a wall.

thanks its vison3 500 tungsten, shot in bright daylight with no daylight filter, mostly blue buildings and blue skies, and as i shot it at 400asa instead of 800 asa, its a tiny bit overexposed to the blue cast changed color...looked quite dystopian and nice

If one turns right into the large opening that was visible in the background of the previous photo one comes into this space, the rotunda. The building was constructed in the early 1950s as new HQ for a Dutch insurance company (the previous one was bombed during WW2) and they required a secure area for their archives. The building was therefore equipped with a thick-walled central construction that goes from the basement all the way to the top. This rotunda is part of that construction. Straight ahead, on what appears to be a balcony but is actually a rather long curved corridor, is the public gallery of Courtroom 1. Throughout the building there are little architectural details that appeal to a nerd like me, like how those columns seem to stretch through the floor. Portraits of serving and former judges can be seen on the walls on the ground level.
