Amazing photo, Phil. The textures and framing, the contrast between the curled B&W poster and the flat rich yellow.... All just fantastic.

Is the White Rose anything to do with the WWII opposition group to Nazism?

Good question, Ken, and thank you so much for your comment. I must admit I paid scarce attention to the little poster, thinking of it only as an element in my picture. However thanks to your question I have leaned something about something which is really interesting - the history of the White Rose.

Could this be the edge of "Yellow Journalism"? Or perhaps the pink wave of the Orwellian and the mandate that two and two makes five? It is not lost that the lower right real estate of the square here has the significance of being contrarian as opposed to the upper left. Cheers!

...and now I've also learnt something about "yellow journalism"! Thank you Rog! Yours is a most astute observation given the definition of yellow journalism, the primary palette of the picture and the wording on the little notice. I'm afraid I'll need a little longer to sift through the clues in the rest of your comment though... 🤔

I also learned, while taking this picture, that the act of standing in an incredibly narrow alley trying to get a photo means that a hitherto-barely used passage suddenly becomes just about the busiest carriageway on earth! Why is that?
