Beresford Posted January 22, 2018 Share #46242 Posted January 22, 2018 needa haircut ? Kodak TMYX 400 Rolleiflex Tessar 1 / 3,5 / Rodinal 1, 25 tessar.jpg Is that a self portrait? I am trying to wok it out. If it is the mirror the writing "Rolleiflex" would be round the other way. But the "Kodak" inscription seems to be correct so you didn't reverse the negative. I am probably being very dim...

Popular Post A miller Posted January 22, 2018 Popular Post Share #46244 Posted January 22, 2018 Two Friday's ago we had some unusually mild weather and it caused there to be fog rising from the river in the early morning. I took three film stocks with me but once again neglected to bring my spot meter I shot HP5 at box speed and Tri-X at 800. They both came out essential looking the same! Here's the Tri-X version, which I think has slightly better blacks (probably from the push) Williamsburg Bridge, SWC Welcome, dear visitor! Wayne Posted January 22, 2018 Share #46257 Posted January 22, 2018 (edited) Wayne, you have the knack of turning the ordinary into something arty. I listened to Ralph Gibson describing the time when he asked Dorothea Lange for an assessment of his portfolio. She told him you're missing a point of departure. At first I struggled understanding what was meant, but I think I'm beginning to get it. I just need to find my own without copying another. Thank you for the very nice compliment. I was standing there, next to the weeds, for about ten minutes looking at the various hulks being stored there. It was a very gray/grey morning. I had seen the weeds before, but, for some reason, our of nowhere, a brief shift in light illuminated them in a different way........Sort of like something was saying: "Look at these weeds again." "Point of departure." That is great. It allows one to interpret in whatever way they wantl, but yet, leads one to think of completing something and making a statement......something for others to consider, but pertaining entirely to you. A communication?..............."I was here, and this is what it meant to me." It is fascinating. If you are true to yourself, it affords an opportunity to communicate at a very base level. One that escapes all barriers associated with the spoken word. In the case of my photo, it is maybe getting a bit redundant: "There's Wayne....out in the weeds again." Haha yeah, gray / grey; we normally use Gray as in someone's name. Re Point of Departure, you've given me yet a further interpretation to ponder upon, thanks Wayne. It would be great to have broader discussion on this with the greater membership of the film group, for instance have they discovered their own standpoint and their distinctive style. I think I can spot a 'Wayne' at 25 yards, in a nice way.
