Henry,

I am with you completely. The costs here are similar to your costs in France on a cm2 or inch2 basis. And learning to print well is something to highly value.

It seems to me that any art should be supported by skilled craftsmanship. Music, painting, sculpture, all are incomplete without the development of the craft behind the final results.

In B&W photography, that basic craft continues to be the silver print.

I think it is not useful to confuse photography’s craft and its art – when a fine print is on the wall, Summicron vs. Summilux or HP5 vs. Tri-X doesn’t matter. If a picture has to rely on the story of the lens used or the developer, there is no hope, IMO.

Michael, I agree .... it's the entire chainon of development of the film until it is printed

a final satisfaction of his work

... my young nephew just work with me last night in my lab and print on paper all the night

He is delighted to see the black and white image appears on the picture and he tells me that it's magic !

Since he does not want to use his digital Sony anymore, he went home with my analog Leica that I gave

him with a Summicron lens 50 with some rolls of TX and Portra

The color version of the Bow Bridge photo

This is - imho - a divine picture. A so well balanced view and the colors are absolutely fantastic, must look awesome in print. You make me envious about the photographic opportunities in NYC once more :) Can't remember when we had a nearly decent light here the last time.

Was busy the last days, so please excuse my late reply! Thank you for the feedback on my pics, it is a pleasure! Just for you (and maybe one or the other who lurks around here for good reason) I have another picture of Paris, you will know the place. Took this picture this summer while I was there one day with my son. We walked a good 20 kilometers that day :)

I am not sure if I have shown this one here before. If so, excuse me, please. Berlin, Tempelhof Airport. Out of order for quite some years now, but a well known building. Was surprised to see it in the last of the Mockingbird movies.
