philipus Posted August 18, 2017 Share #38585 Posted August 18, 2017 I'm amazed by your butterfly shots, Ian. Truly wonderful. Every time I even begin contemplating thinking of considering to approach one I've spotted it leaves. I think I managed to fix one on a piece of emulsion of some kind in France last month but we shall see when I've scanned my rolls (which will be after the impending house move). Another Chalkhill Blue at the Reach end of the Devil's Dyke in Cambridgeshire. Photographed a few weeks ago (the species is still on the wing but in far fewer numbers than at the end of July). 90 Macro Elmar-M and Portra 400. Lovely mysterious light Henry. Doc Henry Posted August 18, 2017 Author Share #38587 Posted August 18, 2017 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) For those who follow the R section of the Forum, you may recall that I recently asked for opinions on the Leica 70-210 F4 zoom - the Minolta manufactured one. I had the chance to buy a really nice one for £200 which as we all know by Leica standards is pretty cheap. I didn't really know what to expect from the zoom but I bought it and I have actually been pleasantly surprised - it's not tack razor sharp like a Leica prime but to be honest it's plenty good enough. These were all on the Leica R8 with the lens at various settings from 70mm to 210mm. The pics are from a project that I am working on documenting the demise of the industry in my home town. I did it all on digital M's in colour but now I'm revisiting it to do on B&W film. Film is Kentmere 100 in D76 - quite a nice film that's made by Ilford and also sold as Agfa APX 100, a bit grainier than FP4 but I think it's a nice sharp budget film that has a lot of latitude so in the non metered M's and LTM's it responds well to the sunny 16 rule. Paul all the series are nice with deep black and nice grey tone shade If you ask me which I prefer digital or film ? you know my answer The picture 2 is in relief on my screen Eizo ... the background is very nice The last picture is also well framing. Great R8 ! Thank you Best Henry Edited August 18, 2017 by Doc Henry
