Advertisement Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 Hi Doc Henry, Take a look here I like film...(open thread). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Wayne Posted August 7, 2017 Share #37822 Posted August 7, 2017 Wayne, I do like your tricycle pics, better than Bill Eggleston's, IMO. I notice with some of your recent images you appear to have scanning marks through the files. ie. vertical lines. Have you noticed them? there was a bit of a discussion on that a while back. My scanner scans from top of frame to bottom so it seems unlikely it is the culprit here. I do have an Epson V800 flatbed scanner. I guess I could scan a few with that and see if the same banding occurs. Anyway, in previous discussion I came away thinking there may be a flaw in developing or exposure technique as the problem was most pronounced when frame includes open sky. However, this last roll of Svema 400 has kind of thrown a brick in the gears. The photos of the mall parking lot and the children's train ride both came from the same roll of film; one shows severe banding in open sky while the other does not show any banding. Both include open sky in photograph. Maybe it is a problem with exposure. the previous discussion was triggered by a very low light portrait of wife and one of my daughters. I believe I used incident light reading in the parking lot, while I went with reflected light in train ride shot. I will run all of the frames through the V800.
Doc Henry Posted August 7, 2017 Author Share #37823 Posted August 7, 2017 Some photos I took recently with a "new" camera. Kodak Bantam folder, Kodak Tri-X 400 35mm respooled as 828. I am very impressed with both the film and this lens. This may become my pocket camera. [emoji16] the only issue I have is that the frames are spaced a long way apart, you could easily get an extra 2 frames per roll if they were spaced closer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Mike , impressive pictures with this camera and lens I recognize the black and grey of TX . Try to crop to see the difference in comparison with in example one M camera It's the best way to know , like when you enlarge and print . Thank for posting I like the last picture with the lady Henry

chrism Posted August 7, 2017 Share #37826 Posted August 7, 2017 Nice grain Chris the continuous rotation gives a better result ? Have you some more loss of gelatin (white spots on negative) versus intermittent rotation ? Thank for posting Best Henry No I've never seen that, except for when I mishandle a wet film and scrape it with a fingernail!

Ran negative through v800; no banding. Thanks to all who have endured the banding.....and helped me. Best, Wayne

Happy you made the discovery, but not happy you have an issue with the film scanner. Either way, I enjoy your photos very much, Wayne. Wayne Posted August 7, 2017 Share #37832 Posted August 7, 2017 I'll do comparison between this camera and my M one day, I'll take identical photos and crop them to compare them. The young lady is my daughter, in the middle of a passionate conversation with her mother. You know, I have two daughters (twins) about the same age. Oddly enough, the deportment and expression of your lovely daughter seemed very familiar to me................as if I was there. Such "passionate" discussions between my wife and daughters spring up frequently. I, too, have used such diversions to steal a photograph or two.
gnuyork Posted August 7, 2017 Share #37833 Posted August 7, 2017 I like this thread It's more and more interesting .... photography is great Thank you Frank Frank , I'll post for you my "coffee lab" (one Italian Rancilio expresso machine, one grinding machine Rancilio just before I drink and one another grinder) . Coffee is 100% arabica not Robusta I buy coffee at a roaster in our city and not Clooney's coffee please Best Henry Do you have the Silvia? I'm particular about my coffee, but i don't have an espresso machine. I usually do a Chemex or use a Technivorm brewer and I grind my beans fresh before each brew on a conical burr grinder.
