Adam, On a recent excursion to some graffiti event I used up my stock of Cinestill 50D. 2 rolls of film had been lingering in my photo bag for a while, maybe 1 year, maybe 2, and it seems that it is not a very patient film... I console myself that I achieved "lomographic" effects of which even the lomographers out there can only dream... Guest )-( Posted June 30, 2017 Share #35256 Posted June 30, 2017 (edited) Love that lens! I have the 150/4 CF because I use the 203FE body. For it's length it is a very light lens. I think that long tube is full of air. It is a very manageable lens and I find the quality is fine. If you buy one, make sure it comes with a sun shade, or buy one separately. The dedicated Blad shade (expensive) is very good, unlike Leica shades that are merely decorative and meant to be compact(useless). A quick look through my archives has produced this image that I can remember using the lens on. Subject is a West Australian Flowing Gum, that is outside my house. I have the 203FE as well and the 150/2.8 Sonnar FE is superb, only 680g and physically smaller than the 110mm Planar FE. Easily handhold-able, a super lens and definitely just a big chunk of glass. I guess the f/4.0 is very similar but just a stop less to accommodate the shutter? I gravitate more towards telephoto with the 203FE b/c 'the noise', I've even been considering the 250/4 FE (beyond that is just too big for me.) I think I'm slowly working my way back to the range of the sonic boom from when i trip the shutter. *The hood is utterly enormous for the 110/150 FE lenses. And having used these lenses with the sun in/near the shot, I can certainly see why. I just received a Chinese knock-off Bay 70 hood that's a third the length, I'm going to try with that one and be extra mindful of keeping the sun off the glass. They both share the same lens hood. I am a bit fanatical about hoods. I also have the Pro shade that can be bellows'ed out. It makes a huge difference to image contrast. Shortly(?) I can see your POV about the hoods, the 110 especially is a flare monster, as seen above. With portraits (my primary use of the 110) I don't mind so much since I can control the scene and don't mind a little softness but for general use, it killed a lot of shots before I got used to always needing a hood. I'm still on the fence about the compendium style hoods, I've been preferring to travel as light as I can and the Hassy quickly adds up to a big old bag of stuff.
