Preaching to the choir, Christoph.  And I share your frustration over these shots.

Adam,

On a recent excursion to some graffiti event I used up my stock of Cinestill 50D. 2 rolls of film had been lingering in my photo bag for a while, maybe 1 year, maybe 2, and it seems that it is not a very patient film... I console myself that I achieved "lomographic" effects of which even the lomographers out there can only dream... So if you get the stuff, either freeze it until you use it or use it right away :)

Thanks, Philip.  I will watch the movie asap. :)

Excellent Adam. It took me severeal looks to realise what it is :) (btw Life is a good movie, the reviews notwithstanding, and directed by a Swede no less, we're everywhere, mouahahahaaha).

Thanks, Gary :)

Weird, but an excellent selfie.

Amazing, Philip.  The second is a really big wow for me.

Two more Minox shots from the same Retro 80S roll in Diafine. First one is a bus shelter roof and the second one a bit of a stress test of the lens.

Love that lens! I have the 150/4 CF because I use the 203FE body.

For it's length it is a very light lens. I think that long tube is full of air. :p

It is a very manageable lens and I find the quality is fine. If you buy one, make sure it comes with a sun shade, or buy one separately.

The dedicated Blad shade (expensive) is very good, unlike Leica shades that are merely decorative and meant to be compact(useless).

A quick look through my archives has produced this image that I can remember using the lens on.

Subject is a West Australian Flowing Gum, that is outside my house.

I have the 203FE as well and the 150/2.8 Sonnar FE is superb, only 680g and physically smaller than the 110mm Planar FE. Easily handhold-able, a super lens and definitely just a big chunk of glass.

I guess the f/4.0 is very similar but just a stop less to accommodate the shutter?

I gravitate more towards telephoto with the 203FE b/c 'the noise', I've even been considering the 250/4 FE (beyond that is just too big for me.) I think I'm slowly working my way back to the range of the sonic boom from when i trip the shutter.

*The hood is utterly enormous for the 110/150 FE lenses. And having used these lenses with the sun in/near the shot, I can certainly see why.

I just received a Chinese knock-off Bay 70 hood that's a third the length, I'm going to try with that one and be extra mindful of keeping the sun off the glass.

An older example to show what the 110 Planar does without its hood!

Coogee, I have the tele-Tessar 250/4. It is really great, and very light.

Currently, my go-to lens is the 110/2 Planar. They both share the same lens hood.

I am a bit fanatical about hoods. I also have the Pro shade that can be bellows'ed out. It makes a huge difference to image contrast.

Shortly(?) I will be posting some current images from the 110 in B&W. Contre Joure style where the lens hood plays a vital role, IMO.

Yes Edward I am like you no correction for picture

Agfa Vista can have a little cast but finally it's pretty nevertheless :)

Thank you for your reply.

Henry

Thank you Henry. In fact I showed the images to my wife and she told me she liked the uncorrected ones better, even if the color is not true to life. She's not a photographer but she has good taste, obviously :D

Thanks erl, that's great to know about the Tele Tessar.

I can see your POV about the hoods, the 110 especially is a flare monster, as seen above.

With portraits (my primary use of the 110) I don't mind so much since I can control the scene and don't mind a little softness but for general use, it killed a lot of shots before I got used to always needing a hood.

I'm still on the fence about the compendium style hoods, I've been preferring to travel as light as I can and the Hassy quickly adds up to a big old bag of stuff.

Look forward to your contre-jour shots.
