I like the Bank station shot Steve. I used to work 5 minutes walk from here, though on the night shift so I pretty much had the place to myself - I was always too nervous to be wandering those streets with a camera inside the 'Ring of Steel' as it was at the time (Irish Republican threat times), so nothing to show unfortunately.

For Henry - I also meant to add that, having had an M10 on order for 3 months (to 'complete' my M kit), the day it arrived at the store I backed out and decided to stay 'all in with film'. I realised it had been a complete year of only film and that, for better or for worse, I love it! So I splurged some of the funds on film equipment and film, pocketed the rest, and will stay the course, wherever it leads me. :)

Really like this one. Simple but has something special.

Thank you both. The attitude to the environment is (as everywhere) a bit mixed. The lake is valued, but so is the economic value of the farms in the distance - they grow flowers and if you buy a bouquet, there is a good chance that what you buy comes from Kenya - so supporting the economy with lake water has some practical merit. But there is generally a sense that the environment is crucial. In another area we watched a family of Cheetahs playing with a plastic bag out on the savannah - when they lost interest in the bag two drivers/guides chased down the plastic bag and removed it. The savannah was spotless and there was much annoyance that someone would have left a plastic bag outside and endangered the animals and environment. Local residents are quite vigilant.

Interestingly, Crescent Island (close to my picture) has a rough airstrip, which was used to film "Out Of Africa", and Karen Blixen's name (and house) are much revered in Kenya. Flying to and from very rural areas in Kenya involves air strips in the middle of nowhere with no air traffic control what so ever - just a gravel strip and small aircraft. We were in a small Cessna that carried up to 12 passengers and which I found very claustrophobic. In-flight service consisted of the pilot handing back a bag of candies. A Gravol pill helped my stomach.

We were there by invitation through the Canadian High Commission - a trip we might otherwise not have made - that would have been a life mistake.

Michael, thank you for the insights! It's easy sometimes to be an arm chair critic and loose sight of the bigger picture!

Regards

Charles

Coogee nice street picture , well done

Coogee,  about the M10 you said in your post , I find that some color images of the M10 and also M9

remind a lot the film , I say "some" images (not all) and only for color , I do not speak of black and white

because the conversion color to b&w loses details , specially in the shadows valid also for film .

But we also have on some photos, these "hypernets" lines and edges which are specific to the digital

with these smoothed square pixels, and for that we can not do much ! Also visible on the majority of the

photos threads in  Leica Forum

That said you are all experts in photos with years of experience behind you, and you know, I hope

sincerily , how to distinguish what is "true" color like poppies from what is "approximate" color

(I call "distorsion") , not yet satisfactory at this stage of the design of the sensor !

I'm a little tired of saying the same thing every time (on more than 1500 pages of this thread)

and I will eventually tell myself, If I am the only one (except some of you here) to love the color

(and black & white) of the film.

I am seriously questioning myself : "Am I normal  ? Maybe I have to stop taking  photos and sell

or give to my kids all my photo material.

Regards

Henry

Edward , great color of your bougainvilea picture . Fuji Pro160 has really the right color .

You said that digital is better , have you compared this flower in both material just to

see the difference ?

This is at Passignano Sul Trasimeno on the Trasimeno lake. I drove by the lake on the road to Perugia. Again M6 + 35/2 asph with an orange filter and Trix400.

Ciao. Antonio.

Thanks Henry and my apologies, I meant to enthuse you not depress you!

I don't worry if film is better than digital or v.v. I just know i like film!, this is all that matters to me.

I just found a little extra confidence to embrace it, that's all. Have a great day :)

A man of my own taste :) Excellent reflection!

The reflection from many pages ago (as a couple of you had asked) was, I think(!), a double one, showing what was in front reflected from behind me - from these shiny, corporate/public space things/art objects installed in a newly homogenised area of Sydney (Darling Harbour Mk.2)

I do love complex reflections and frames inside frames.

I should probably use an SLR really rather than the rangefinder/TLR/SWC that I do use, that are probably the least practical tools for this purpose but then it wouldn't be nearly as much fun.

A more straightforward reflection from the same shiny things.

Good shot Steve.

A little more England ......

Great news :) An M10 is the equivalent of, well, a very large amount of film and fun.

Just fantastic Charles. I miss East Africa.

Thank you Henry! I wouldn't dare say digital is better :D Especially for flowers, it would be almost impossible to keep the red channel from blowing out, and besides, film gives the flowers this intangible organic look :)
