philipus Posted March 18, 2017 Share #29303 Posted March 18, 2017 A few more from the same roll. Hope nobody minds the rather gruesome theme; this is nature after all, messy, brutal and beautiful. I'm putting together an album of lion "portraits" taken in 2005 for my soon-to-be-relaunched site. More snaps than anything else but still fun to go through old photos. MarkP Posted March 18, 2017 Share #29304 Posted March 18, 2017 Another from the Minolta TC-1 (for Mark P who needs one for his collection ) NYC, Portra 400 (pushed one stop) Yea yea! I'll get there. Are you happy with it's handling and focusing? Obviously the lens is not a point of contention here. Mark
Mute-on Posted March 18, 2017 Share #29305 Posted March 18, 2017 Taking a short break from the flora with...some fauna to celebrate the rebirth of Ektachrome. Masai Mara | Flickr 1N 200/2.8 Ektachrome 200 Can you provide some more details about this incredible photo? Camera, lens, location, circumstances. It looks like blood smeared over his nose and jaw. An incredible capture depicting raw Mother Nature in a highly evocative and powerful creature. King of the jungle, indeed. Best damn photo I've seen for a long time. I had no idea I was a nature guy! philipus Posted March 18, 2017 Share #29309 Posted March 18, 2017 Thank you. I shot this in Masai Mara, Kenya, in 2005 using my EOS 1N and the 200/2.8L. I realise now that I forgot to mention earlier that I also used the Canon 2x extender which does degrade image quality a little bit but not by much. We were quite lucky during this trip because we saw a very large number of lions and often quite close. Can you provide some more details about this incredible photo? philipus Posted March 18, 2017 Share #29310 Posted March 18, 2017 Thank you Ian. I think it may be because they're planted just outside the supreme court's (old) location so they have to look all proper and correct. A miller Posted March 19, 2017 Share #29318 Posted March 19, 2017 The Doctor: "I wear a fez now, fezzes are cool." So is the tie skill of paparazzi photographers unleashed on NYC Seriously, you need to change this thread title to "I love film" Adam, here's another from one of our favorite films in Dubai ~ Thanks, Steve. Yes, I could never mistake those red halos! In case you are wondering, Cinestill is now selling the film in 120 format to the public on its site. https://cinestillfilm.com/products/120-preorder-800tungsten-high-speed-color-film-120-format-approx-delivery-april?mc_cid=c099fe332f&mc_eid=cc411a0973

He seems to be cuddling perversely next to that bloody carcass and gazing at you in content. I was also wondering about your focal length as 200mm seemed way too close! 400mm sounds more like it!
EoinC Posted March 19, 2017 Share #29320 Posted March 19, 2017 Yeah, who'd have thought to use an SWC for action cycling??? Gary Exactly, Gary. One has to question the basic intelligence of someone who thinks the SWC has the makings of a sports camera. At 1fpp (Frame Per Push), and having to nearly get run down to get close enough, the Operator may not be the smartest tree in the forest...
