wattsy Posted January 30, 2017 Share #27242 Posted January 30, 2017 Ian - it is well documented that i only bring sunshine with me. There are obviously other forces at work... Well, hopefully you'll be taking your "sunshine" back with you. How long are you in town for?
A miller Posted January 30, 2017 Share #27243 Posted January 30, 2017 Well, hopefully you'll be taking your "sunshine" back with you. How long are you in town for? I go back Thursday night and am stuck here in Canary Wharf, which limits my movement given my work schedule. But am more than happy to meet up if anyone has an ocassion to come here.
Doc Henry Posted January 30, 2017 Author Share #27244 Posted January 30, 2017 (edited) Thanks, but "pas de chapeau" for 51 (not 61) years of slide conservation. This is the problem: I took this slide out this morning after storage in a "dry box" in Bangkok for 15 years to find that the colors had changes completely to a horrible, strong cyan cast — no way to project this slide. Coincidentally, I had read a posting or article a couple of days ago — I don't recall where — that Kodachrome is not so color fast as it is reputed to be; that heat and humidity can cause strong color changes — and this slide is the proof. I had to neutralize the colors by finding a small area that should be grey among the women's kit. That made a huge difference, pushing the color temp slider all the way to the right. That gave the color to the dry grass that I remember. Actually, I have another scan of this slide that I made some 20 years ago with an Imacon Precision III scanner. This time I digitalized using a Leitz BEOON copying stand with a Focotar 2 lens and an M9-P. The Imacon slide has a bit more resolution (6300ppi), but that is not noticeable, and the new digitalization looks like it has the same dynamic range (the Imacon has a dMax of 4.2 (two stops more than the 3.6 of the current Plustek scanners). Actually, I don't like the current colors of the Imacon scan, but I'm sure I can neutralize them to get the same results as the BEOON scan. Anyway, this latest BEOON digitalization supports my earlier conclusion that the results I'm getting are very close in quality to those of the Imacon scans. _______________ Alone in Bangkok essay on BURN Magazine Thanks for this interesting notice. So you must correct . Well in my case , I still have slides in good condtion and in addition I can project them in big screen with my Pradovit 1500. Color is still fine and no problem at all. Theses slides are dated 1969, ie 48 years . I have always kept them in the Leitz baskets. Ah one simple question : do you think you can keep it as long a digital photo with the change of the computer and software or OS ? Doc Henry Posted January 30, 2017 Author Share #27246 Posted January 30, 2017 (edited) My freind, Blondie- my name for her. She guards chickens, not mine, for a living. She always has to pretend she is warding me off before she saunters over to get her ears scratched. Here she is pretending to growl at me......More of a groan, really.
