It is a saying here, especially Wales, when something becomes a creative tool in the hands, or becomes a force that seems to have some supernatural drive, that it has soul. It's like the Welsh singing when they play rugby. We call it "Hwyl" in Welsh - the English dictionary says - "[mass noun] (in Welsh use) a stirring feeling of emotional motivation and energy:"

Kind regards

Christopher

As a photographer of wedding I posted some pictures here

http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/268140-are-there-any-benefits-of-using-film-compared-to-digital/?p=3185506

The photographer with 2 digital Canon 5DII looks always through the screen ... an habit that one loses when shooting film

Yes Chris you have pronounced a magic word "emotional"

When I look a print or a picture something must impress me or touch me (like when I listen to

a good vinyl record of Verdi's Traviata it gets me into the guts) , the same for the picture

The image must send you an emotion (independently of the shooting) when you look at it.

When I look an image of Henri Cartier Bresson , something touches me may be because in part

of its grain. That's this "soul" I mean ! not everywhere "smooth" like in digital !

I do not know if you understand what I say.

Same as me but listening to Metallica

I could send you some next time I see it in Poundland, it's only £1 a roll

Thanks, I'm sure we have a Poundland in Neath too. I'm sure it's next to Lidl in Briton Ferry. Thanks for offering, I must admit I stocked up with film before Christmas and I have enough in the freezer to get me through summer probably. All I need are opportunities to shoot. My M3 and lenses are in my work bag permanently ready for use. I must admit to having a strong preference for Kodak film and Ilford just because I find they scan better.

I know. We always hold our breath when they play as they are either brilliant and inspired, or dreadful. There's no in between [emoji23]

This Leica forum and thread is the absolute best. I've been on a good number of the others, including German ones (it's my second language despite being Welsh and half German myself ). It's here with film where the best shots are. The Germans seem to debate more than put actions into words, they'll never change.

This is really great - just what I think of when I think "mountain pictures".

Michel thanks for your nice comment, another picture for you , just a little at right.

The view from 2000m is superb

We were hungry after 4 hours of hiking, and we ate in the chalet bottom right

That was delicious  :D  ... with a bottle of great red wine of Savoie  (to prevent my Alzheimer disease :D)
