Nice shot Adam. But, given his apparent injuries, better he be such a doctor than an uninsured low-income white person without a college degree. Hmm then again if he is, statistically, he is probably a Trump voter and may also have benefited by the ACA (that population group has declined from 25%-15% since 2013)  :p

Good one, Christoph.  But you really need color for the full effect... :)

For Henry - Here's another blood-thirsty, underpaid & Obamacare-saddled American physician....  :p

I still have some TriX photos not scanned of my medical humanitarian mission during a few days in a refugees camp.  I had already posted some pictures color like b&w.

A photo taken on the fly without adjustment ... we discuss with the organizers of the camp and say what we want under a tent. There are tents everywhere !

Slivers of sunshine. Inside the Tithe Barn at National Trust Lacock. Hasselblad 500C, 60mm Distagon CB, Portra 400. Hand-held at a ridiculously low shutter speed - 'twas very gloomy in there!

Been busy scanning my first roll of Kodak BW400CN. Not sure I prefer it over XP2. It has a coarser grain and seem more grey than B&W. The negatives have the same colour as Portra while XP2 looks like a typical B&W film. I'm having some hard decisions on interpreting a look that I like.dd863b8cde450b395bacc1a38400e208.jpg4fda4d8e8119194b0155d2d6560aa7d4.jpg1421f34248319bafb19ebe62f65a44e0.jpgI'm interested to see how these look when posted. There's also no setting in Vuescan for this that I can see. So I've gone for a guess.

Wayne a typical american hut

Nice black

Thanks

Henry

It was an interesting outing. I was out with my camera in those frigid temperatures because the air is so clean under those conditions. I had been looking for an opportunity to shoot this particular barn for some months. As I drove by, I saw the owner outside attending to something; she very gracefully assented, but with the proviso: "please do not go inside the barn." As I started walking toward the buildings, her border collie, Buddy, nipped me in the back of my calf- no blood- in an attempt to herd me back to my car. I have a deep love for dogs, and complimented Buddy on his diligence.....Great dog. I once owned a border collie- working variety- and spent the rest of the day reflecting on what a great breed they are. I heard Baxter Black, famous American large animal vet, once say, to paraphrase: "The border collie represents the apex of animal genetics...in the area of intelligence." The barn cat would likely consider it wasted intelligence. :)

Phil , Eoin said that Kodak BWCN has a look of digital . He is right.

The look like Portra is normal since the process is C41 development.

What is the difference between the first and the second picture ?

Well, I can certainly confirm that Buddy, the border collie, has a real sense of private property. Thank you for the compliment.

As an aside, I believe the owner's concern about entering the barn had more to do with fear the old building might collapse on me......A very real concern.

In the first shot I've introduced some editing in Photoshop to create a more moody and vignetted sky and brought out some highlights in the foreground. I've also reduced colour noise to smooth out the look making it much softer.

I am glad and I'm not surprised that some gentleman ask this question

@Phil, your last BW400CN  pictures posted are fine IMO.

It can happen that some pictures give a different rendering
