I like film because it's forever.  Just going through a bunch of Dad's old slides.  Projected, these are still awesome.  Still working on getting the scanner up to snuff...but there is plenty on the scanned slides to work with.  Just need to figure out a decent way to deal with dust / scratches (beyond what Photoshop offers) that doesn't take hours to get the whole image right without loosing detail.

Anyway....

Kodachrome taken when he and his buddy swapped cameras.

Dad's was a Leica IIIf (from which this image of him was taken) that he picked up on leave in Tokyo.  Photo circa 1951 in Korea.  He didn't recall what he was holding when this was taken, but he thinks his buddy had a Kodak rangefinder of some sort.

Philip a nice grain of Kodak TX

Thanks for posting

Thanks again Henry. Just as a general comment, too - the photos that are being posted in this thread continually testify to the qualities of film. Look at Aristotle's scan from a 1951 transparency (above). Could have been taken yesterday. What an incredible resource we have with this wonderful medium, film photography!

Barn cat. They usually run at the first sight of a person. It was seven degrees Fahrenheit this morning. I guess his warm spot in the bright sun was too much to give up. I didn't notice him until I scanned the image.

The photos on this thread are so uplifting! It's good to know that light can be so beautiful. We've had a really drab weekend. Here are some shots from this Saturday lunchtime from Aberavon beach, South Wales. XP2, C41, M3 90/2.8 Tele-Elmarit. It was drizzling with rain in total contrast to the previous weekend.f4b586e6b52d345fc1e4dd51470b0ddc.jpg43debb45d3dc1607510f13d00924c9bb.jpg319c8df0d84b5b611a2505388a5e8216.jpg

Good one, Christoph.  But you really need color for the full effect... :)

Sorry, but I decided I needed higher contrast in the photo in post #25884 and, since it's impossible to edit posts, here's the new version:

Alone in Bangkok essay on BURN Magazine

You're right the portrait of this beautiful lady is better and nicer.

Why beautiful ? It's not perfect like in digit not sharp and with "cutting"line,

but "soft" , a little blurry , the grain gives a plus for the skin (I remind you human

skin have pores and not smoothed skin)

Thanks for posting

Amazing picture and great memories

Thank you and I am grateful with film who still gives us this picture

Digital can also do that after so many years ? with the change of software, OS and PC.

Not sure IMO.

I agree with Philip comment !

... and welcome Aristot to our thread :)

Long live to film !

Best
