Advertisement Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Hi Doc Henry, Take a look here I like film...(open thread). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Doc Henry Posted October 9, 2016 Author Share #22262 Posted October 9, 2016 Thanks, Steve - Velvita is one of the kings of film when used in the right setting. As for your Afghani fruit seller friend, he is my friend too and pose for me once a couple of years back. I actually had been meaning to give him a print but have been distracted. Given his personality, I am sure he will be delighted to get the photo you made of him, which, b/c it was with film I like better than mine (although I like my lens (75 lux) better Very nice color Adam Extraordinary color fineness Soft definition very pleasant to watch Best Henry

mdachs Posted October 9, 2016 Share #22265 Posted October 9, 2016 @Gary & EoinC Thank you for your friendly comment. It was Kodachrome and it is in my own neighbourhood in Bonn, which I never left for my whole lifetime. Apart trips to France. I don't regret. It is fascinating to see the change of people and the immediate vicinity. But I find it often difficult to take pictures of these familiar things. rgds Joachim

atournas Posted October 9, 2016 Share #22280 Posted October 9, 2016 A place I recall fondly, as kids we spent virtually every free day here, dad built a bach (modest holiday home) near the top of the inlet, and we boated, swam, fished, and generally whiled the days away, a great childhood. Rollei T Agfa RS100 Gary Hello Gary, I keep coming back to this photograph of yours and I’m trying to figure out why. One indifferent viewer would probably call it a tourist’ shot, then add “but a serious amateur’s.” If it is, it is a finest example of a shot by a tourist coming back home and bringing some exquisite photographs. The photograph appears to benefit from a subtle balance; there is an “X” of lines crossing the field, one line made of the water, the other of the land; the two blue hues of the water work together nicely, sort of implying a “movement” from the deep ocean to a serene gulf; then comes the glorious sandy coast, almost pure white, an impossible to ignore invitation to bathe. Maybe it’s all that, maybe it’s because it is reminiscent of my birthplace; but if HCB’s criterion of a good photograph—the time spent looking at it—is of some value, then this photograph is really good!
