gbealnz Posted September 30, 2016 Share #22003 Posted September 30, 2016 The answer will be the same, of that I am certain. It's the differing and colourful pictures that the various and many participants all add to this film potpourri. It makes the thread, no two the same. Gary Thanks for a great (and educational) series, Gary. These are somehow very 'real' to me, accurately reporting my mind's eye (if that makes any sense).

gbealnz Posted October 1, 2016 Share #22011 Posted October 1, 2016 Enjoying the old series Eoin, is the general hue a magenta colour, and would they be better "corrected", even if the Doc may not approve? Not being critical, just picky. Either way, looks like the FD17 was a fixture, a 35mm equiv of the SWC. Gary

They are as scanned (no correction for Kodachrome applied, so Vuescan is presumably treating it as generic E6), and my LR is crashing, so no correction or clean-up in there, either. The FD 17 was certainly a fixture. For a few years it was the only lens I used. The other one I had on hand was a FD 500mm Reflex - I guess I was a person drawn to the extremities... gbealnz Posted October 1, 2016 Share #22014 Posted October 1, 2016 (edited) So Eoin, this is the "unknown" film, or a known one, long forgotten? christoph_d Posted October 1, 2016 Share #22018 Posted October 1, 2016 Very nice! Thanks for sharing. I have some ancient structures from Jerusalem to share as well. I took some photos during the summer of the Western Wall in Jerusalem, which was the western outer wall of the second Jewish Temple and was built by King Herod about 2000 years ago. At the time, the temple was considered to house the presence of God and thus the Wall is considered a piece of that history and spiritual connection. Jews flock to this wall and pour out their soul in prayer. They often also leave a part of their soul in the form of letters and notes to God that they fold up and stick in the cracks between the large limestones. Given the significance of the Wall, I wanted to see if I could come up with some interesting isolated photos using both slide film and portra 160 (which is good with neutral tones) Here are two taken with Velvia 50 and the SWC Here is the second, also with Velvia 50 and the SWC kotel 2.jpg Here is another from the Western Wall in Jerusalem... This time with Portra 160 SWC kotel people.jpg Adam, Comparing your three pictures of the temple wall, I find myself drawn to all of them for different reasons. The composition in the first one is compelling and classic, and the human protagonist is a clear indicator of the location. This is much less the case in the second picture, however its dynamic is quite compelling. Finally the picture with the two older men and the boy is a masterpiece of catching the right moment, with a lot of " human touch", but, I do miss their feet. Overall: well done, I'm looking for more. Have a good weekend, Christoph
gbealnz Posted October 1, 2016 Share #22019 Posted October 1, 2016 Seeing Eoin's selfie, I decided to post one of my own, from a year or three back, OK, more than three. How I accomplished this, I can't remember, possibly my dear wife tripped the shutter, as the camera didn't really have a self-timer.
