KevinL Posted August 16, 2016 Share #20009 Posted August 16, 2016 (edited) I went back to the Campbell House with the Chamonix 4x5 and some FP4+, developed in Diafine and scanned on the X1: Campbell House 8 by chrism229, on Flickr Chris Lovely LF image. Shows the sagging of the roofline. But, I'm still amazed that this house looks this good after being unlived in for 50 years (if I'm remembering your earlier post right). Boggles my mind as I would have thought nature would have made a stronger effort to reclaim it during those decades. EDIT: One or two of the houses in my neighborhood look more rundown than this and they've always had occupants, albeit sometimes fairly house-stressed ones after 2008. christoph_d Posted August 16, 2016 Share #20011 Posted August 16, 2016 (edited) Abbaye de Senanque Cistercian abbey La Provence for Gary and Eoin, it's near Marseille 45 mns- 1 hour by car Kodak Portra 160 M7-35 Lux Asph Nikon Coolscan 5000 Image3seanqkod160feclfht++++550.jpg Image4senaqkod160feclfht++++1000tc.jpg Best Henry Henry, Nice to see pictures from the interior of the abbey, as the main view that is normally shown is the one from the outside across the lavendelfields - I think every second guidebook sports it on the cover? Your pictures show the simplicity, beauty (and silence) on the inside. We visited Senanque some time ago, and another Cistercian abbey nearby this summer, Silvacan. My favourite, perhaps because it is a bit more secluded, remains the third Cistercian abbey of the Provence, Thoronet, but I like the atmosphere of all three. The acoustics of the main churches is always superb, and the simplicity of the interior has its own special beauty. (I'll look for some pics when I am back home from my current travels...) Rgds and thx C. Edited August 16, 2016 by christoph_d

Rgds and thx C. Christoph, Thanks for your kind comment. I think you have another great Cistercian Abbey at Clairvaux All are quiet places to meditate and do a backward. Recently I spent one week at Sénanque for a pilgrimage just to get back spiritually unrelated with the religion. This is very beneficial for me Best Henry
christoph_d Posted August 16, 2016 Share #20014 Posted August 16, 2016 Henry, Yes, there are more Cistercian Abbeys around; the three I mentioned are the ones of the Provence. Nice that you could spend a week in Senanque for peace and meditation, I imagine this has been an impressive experience for you (meditation & the Leica ) My experiences there only extends to visiting as a tourist... chrism Posted August 16, 2016 Share #20015 Posted August 16, 2016 Henry, Since you are about to embark on another humanitarian mission, I'll post this photo of Pippa when she worked for three months at a mission hospital in Maua, Kenya. She still visits Kenya each year as she has set up a home for AIDS and AIDS-orphaned children there, but, sadly, all her photos of it are digital (but still Leica!) But, it's nice to see an image from the humble Oly Trip! I used to make fun of this camera, until I got one. Fabulous thing and a dead sharp lens! I'll even confess to (sometimes!) liking the square OOF points of light from the square aperture opening -- quite odd but even that can be fun too.
