I shot only one roll and I realized it really need a center filter, vignette is quite strong. This with the 45mm lens: Hi Jonny glad to see you in our thread Very nice pano picture you are welcome Best H.

Doc Henry Posted July 31, 2016 Author Share #19186 Posted July 31, 2016 End of a roll of Fomapan 100 that I ran through the R8 with R29-70. I run hot and cold on the R8, it is big and heavy, an in your face sort of camera. But the results, well, they are wonderful. Fomapan 100 was a bit of a trial, obtained from a nice dealer in Australia, and from the results (in R09), I will get more. The tale of woe comes from me making new fix (I'd forgotten this, and found out part way through the 9 mins development time), and making it in a hurry. I poured this new fix into an old storage bottle, and found when I poured it tinto the tank that there was much scum (Adam's schmootz isn't even close) on the inside of the bottle. Too late. Effect was lots of white "spots", irregular shaped, all over most/all the negs. I've cloned them out, I hate spots. Gary And next to helliabore, a seat in the garden, complete with broken wind-chime. I plan of fixing it, it has sentimental value, my dear wife made it. Gary Gary I like much specially the first picture Fomapan is a good film IMO Black is really nice Best Henry

Thanks Colin Best Henry Thank you, Henry - I'm fortunate to be member of Street Level photo works in Glasgow. They have a Hasselblad scanner which I have access to. It's quirky, but it gives a beautiful high-resolution TIFF file. Having said that, I used to have a Nikon Coolscan, back in the nineties. I still have TIFF files from scans I did on that, and they still look great. Cheers!

colint544 Posted July 31, 2016 Share #19197 Posted July 31, 2016 Colin thanks for your reply , you are a lucky man Picture better than digit. monochrome for a nice definition I appreciate the deep black on your series Best Henry Thanks - yes, despite having owned an M Monochrom since August 2012, I keep coming back to film for the warm, subtle tones and beautiful veiling grain. The files from the M Monochrom are harder to deal with. They're so sharp, they seem to me almost brittle in comparison. They have loads more detail than film files, but I suppose it's not always about that. Best wishes, Colin

Best wishes, Colin Yes Colin you say "so sharp" I say "cutting" surgery edge and line , not natural (exemple poppies petals like cigarette paper type, too thin) and sometimes "banding" in the black ie inhomogeneity of black (software and smoothing pixels problem). My Leica Center shop gives me a MM * for few days tests and I don't like in comparison with film I prefer film. Only one thing , it's practical I recognize , that's all !
