The tones in these are great, Ian. I've been staying away from TMax, but a friend's shots with it convinced me to get some. Yours back up that idea - Thank you.

F6 and the much-derided 28-300 zoom. Occasionally I'll get some XP2 like that and it is so smooth it could be a 4x5. The silly thing is that if I took that with a digital camera I'd call it boring, but when I take it with film I feel lucky!

PS, I just realised this film might not be exactly XP2. I bought lots of 24 exposure rolls of no name film in black canisters labelled "Black & White negative film. ISO400/24exp. Film made in EU. Packaged in China. Process C-41."  from Freestyle a few years ago and they are still in the freezer. I suspect it is the stuff Ilford makes for sale in the UK and the Far East, usually as Fuji Neopan CN400. The film itself is marked 'ISO 400'on one side and has frame numbers on the other. Nothing else. The base is a bit less purplish than Ilford-brand XP2. Now I think of it, another very smooth result for a 35mm negative came from the same stock:

Either way, the semi-stand Rodinal makes this film sing.

Chris

This is "Wow", Chris. You've convinced me to try a stand development of some old XP2 I have that I've been neglecting.

Ok, one from Greece in the 80's.  I love shooting kids and their expressions.  This is one of my favorites.  If is is ok, more to follow one or two a day.  Kodachrome scanned with Canon flatbed scanner.  Rollei 35SE, 40mm, 2.8 Sonnar probably stopped down to 5.6 or so.

Beautiful, Wayne. The look of awe is excellent! Thank you, and keep them coming!

Chris

Chris this portrait picture is perfect for me . Nothing to add

Black is nice grey is nice and skin with grain (pores of skin) is nice.

I have compared also some portrait of my sister with my MP (90 Apo

Summicron A.) and MM (just for few days test).

What I don't like in the MM is the "cutting" edge of the face, it's not natural.

I agree with you and Adam. I finally did not buy and I returned it to my Leica

advisor center.

For Ilford, I think XP2 is a good film with fine grain made for portrait.

Otherwise lovely portrait Chris.

Some more please :)

Best regards

Henry

Another shot.  I do like flowers, as you can tell.  My other love is candid shots of street scenes.  I used to travel overseas for a living and carried a Rollei 35 pocket camera with me everywhere.  I shot slide film and a few years converted many to digital via my Canon flatbed scanner.  I was wondering if it would be ok to post a few of those?

Anyway, shot with a Hasselblad in a local park back home.  Tri-X, Rodinal 50:1.

Wayne

Very nice b&w picture Wayne nice bokeh

This is the type of photos I took.  This is in Austria.  The shot was originally Kodachrome, but I copied it to Plus-X using a slide copier and a Pentax SLR.

Wayne , nice rendering with your slide system copier
