Thanks JM, it's something I have always lusted after, having had a few 500C/M's over the years and loved them. The SWC though has always eluded me, until now.

Now I have it though, well like I said, it's a weird fish. I've even considered trying a different optical finder, and guess that the SWC with an A-16 back would be "similar" to any old 35mm camera with the 21mm lens correct? If so, a simple 21mm finder with bright lines would suffice? Maybe.

Time will tell.

Yes, in a word, painful it is Eoin.

If all I had was a few older trannies in anything larger than 35mm I'd not be bothering, but the SWC bug got me a week ago, found one, in need of a CLA, and this has been done.

It's a weird beast, not sure if it is destined to stay with me, but I'll give it a go. The finder for example is non-glasses friendly, in fact without glasses it isn't even friendly. I'm not sure if I want to use it as a view camera, on a tripod with the ground-glass back, so we'll see how the first few rolls go.

If it stays, then I am up the creek, and will source an Epson, an older one to start with, to get my feet wet so to speak.

Gary

I sincerely hope that you are well and truly up a small tributary to the Waikato, with a paddle nowhere to be seen, Gary. I've wanted a SWC since the 1970's, and am prepared to battle vicariously through your difficulties and bathe vicariously in your results. On, into battle, Gary... I'm right there behind you...

Very nice use of the square format JM.

Gary, I've only recently entered the "SWC world", Adam will tell you more !

There are some discussions on the web about various finders such as http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=133718

Have only used the original one and it suits me !

Another one of mine from a couple of years ago.  Taken in Forest Park, St. Louis.   Plus-x rated at ISO100, Rodinal 50:1, scanned with Plustek scanner.  Leica M6, 50mm Summicron probably stopped down to about f8.

These shots keep getting better and better, Henry. I love the contrast of the sharp reds of the poppies against the gold / green / silver river-like flow of the wheat.

Thank you!

Thank you Eoin for your nice comment

It's encouraging for me a poppy hunter :)

Best
