Best Henry Dirk have you compared picture with Nikon software versus SF or VS Hi Henry, I don't have the Nikon Software installed on my Mac. I think I had to downgrade to a former version of OS to make it work.

Sparkassenkunde Posted June 14, 2016 Share #17047 Posted June 14, 2016 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I've tried now to correct the colors a bit with Lightroom. What do you think about that? (I replaced the old pictures by the new ones on flickr, so the old version is not available there anymore) I think these newer versions have a better white balance than in your previous post. On my screen there was a slight green cast, which is now removed - without a substantial change in the reds. I, as many others, am struggling again and again with the "right" color Balance for Ektar and found it necessary to pay utmost attention to the process of the elimination of the orange mask before trying to find the right white balance. As I am using Vuescan, I can´t give any hints about this for Silverfast. Edited June 14, 2016 by Sparkassenkunde

MT0227 Posted June 14, 2016 Share #17052 Posted June 14, 2016 Based on my limited experience...both Portra and Ektar like light, the more you throw at it (to a degree), you obtain deeper and properly saturated colors. Portra will provide more realistic skin tones, so if people are going to be in your frame...I would go with Portra. For landscapes/objects where skin tone is not a factor and you are looking for, sharp, high contrast, bright colors, Ektar would be my choice of the 2. In either case, to achieve rich, deep colors you need proper exposure. If I underexpose either film, I find it hard to draw out proper color and the images look hazy and flat (low contrast, flat colors). I think the Ferrari pics suffer from a stop or so of missing light to get that deeper red you are looking to achieve. I over exposed my last roll of Portra 400 by 1 to 1.5 stops (at box speed) and was quite happy with the deep rich colors I obtained without any significant PP that would alter the films signature. I use a coolscan 9000 + Vuescan...I set the color setting to auto levels and use the generic color film mask. Maybe a slight tweak to the tone curve if needed, buts that it. I noticed that too. As I don't have much experience with color film I wasn't sure if this is normal or not. I got it commercially processed.
