Dirk, I am curious about your Ferrari pics. Yes the red is bright and rich, but there is a crossover of Cyan in all the background. I am inclined to blame the Ektar for that, at least in part, but processing could also be the culprit. Did you process yourself and if so what details can you offer? Or was the film commercially processed?

My first post in this section.  I've recently returned to photography as a hobby, mostly because my golf game is so bad.  Anyway, this is why I like film.  This is my rescue pup, some kind of a terrier mix.

When Kodak stopped making Plus-X I thought my world had ended.  I loved that film, but recently discovered Ilford FP4 Plus 125.  Outside of it being thin, and harder to handle, it seems to have the same properties as Plus-x.

While away for a few years I also discovered my scanner died, so this scan is from a flatbed scanner of questionable quality.  Still, I love the look of film, almost magical.  I hope you do too.  By the way, her name is Mollie, a real sweetie.

Very excited to have just completed a basic darkroom course yesterday. My first ever time in a darkroom!

I'm already measuring up my laundry space and making plans, analogue from start to finish! :)

Nice camera and a Voigtlander is fine on M2. Thanks for your reply :)

I noticed that too. As I don't have much experience with color film I wasn't sure if this is normal or not. I got it commercially processed.

And as today comes to a close, some colour from a test roll I did yesterday.

I'll space them out so as to not bore you too much.

R 28-70

Kodak Gold 200 (rather old Gold too, I can almost hear Adam moaning from here).

Dirk, the other thing to consider is the scanning. I forgot to mention that. That can also cause crossover colour casts.

IMO, Ektar is a difficult film from many aspects. I now avoid it. Saturated effects of Ektar can be achieved with 'easier' films, like Portra and then saturated in post.

Hi Erl,

thanks for your answer. I used my Nikon Coolscan 5000 scanner and Silverfast for the scanning. I know that a lot of people don't like Silverfast but as far as I understood it is more because of handling and not in terms of quality. Silverfast gives me the option to pre-select a specific film for the scanning but I didn't do that. I'll try the Portra as well but I still have a few rolls of Ektar now. :-)

I dont find Ektar to be particularly difficult in landscapes/cityscapes.

I dont really understand the logic of using portra as a crutch to get the look of ektar

There are scenes for portra and there are scenes for ektar

I've tried now to correct the colors a bit with Lightroom. What do you think about that?

(I replaced the old pictures by the new ones on flickr, so the old version is not available there anymore)
