This shot reminds me of Plimmer House in Wellington, Gary - A tiny colonial cottage jammed between 2 modern monstrosities.

Yep, seemed to be the way they did it back then, it's in Nelson, where I grew up.

Interesting comparison here  : Hassy - Imacon against new SL

for me it's without appeal about "definition" and rendering in digital (pixels) and film (grain)  !

Adam, Neil and Chris will be glad

Your opinion ?

Long life to film

Yes- very interesting. But the Hasselblad-scan was a bit to large for a real comparison.

I think it is better to put it to an equal scale:

SL left, Habla right.

Wonder why you can't see grain there. May be the scan is not as sharp as possible?

Made a rough comparison between M240 and Mamiya 7II one day. M7II was a bit better in sharpness and details.

Anyway. Film makes more fun... :)

And to make Eoin a bit more homesick.

Mt Taranaki (once called Mt Egmont) taken from 9000', as we flew past on photography.

Thanks, Gary. Fond memories of holidaying up at Dawson Falls there many years ago (long drive in the old Morris Minor), and I did one heli-drilling job out of Stratford during a miserable Winter in the 1990's, camping in an unheated abandoned dairy shed.

This is a wow, Gary.  The girth of the mountain is awesome.  Great colors, too.

I'm probably not the right person to ask. Even if I could afford an SL I wouldn't use it. I find myself feeling more and more that digital is cheating, and to be honest, I wish I could have the speed, convenience and resolution of digital. I still enjoy splashing around in the chemicals, even though they may have played a part in my funny bone marrow. It's just that having spent nearly fifty years getting sorta competent at using film, I can't just leave it behind and cheat. It would be like cheating on my wife. There ought to be a name for this kind of mental disorder. So no matter how clever, easy and wonderful digital cameras become, I'll be sticking with film.

Chris

Yes Chris, it is certain that this seems clearer but this is an illusion

because when we enlarge I think it lacks definition

I had already a debate with Adan on another thread about it

Thank you for your opinion.

Frank ,  I have posted here a picture of Mont Saint Michel with my M8 and my M7 film Kodak TX

A crop of the hill and buidings specially the Abbey has more definition with film

reason:  the pixels can not give a "clear" line because pisels must be smoothed by software and

finally the result is unclear

I'll post again these pictures if you're interested. There is also the "artistic" side of the film

the "sentimental" side of the film...because it's not digital :)

Thanks for your advice

Best
