So I took a trip to San Diego, California to visit for my mom's 85th birthday party.

I took along my M6 and a Summarit-M 50mmf/2.5 because my 35mm Summarit was broken and being repaired by DAG.

I shot mostly color (sent out to develop and print) but I did shoot a few rolls of Tri-X also. These were shot at ISO 200 and developed in D76.

The first shot is of my Mom and me (taken by my wife)
The second shot is my wife taking a picture out of the plane window using her iPhone.
The third shot is of my wife doing what smokers do just after they land! I was getting the bag but shot this while I waited.

Adam and Neil,

It's not an "artifact or schmootz"  of film , it's normal and natural IMO

I have this on my pictures of sea or on land  :)  like here

It's the shadow and reflection of clouds and light which gives it a little purple

Best

Henry

Yes, it's normal.  It's an excess of ultraviolet light recording on the film.  I don't remember it being quite such an issue 30 years ago... whether it's the ozone layer depletion or a change in the emulsions is probably up for grabs; but a UV/Haze filter will deal with most of it.

You should tell your mom she doesn't even begin to look 85!
