beautiful, Neil.  Have you considered Kodak Ektar or Fuji Provia/Velvia 100 or Velvia 50 for this type of shot??

I am trying to keep it simple right now. I am just going to use TMAX 400 for B&W and Kodak Portra for color until I completely get the hang of both camera and meter. Once I am comfortable with these two elements of my film photography, yes absolutely I will try other types of film........WHY

 

I shot a whole roll of TRIX at ISO 100 because I forgot to change the ISO setting on the hand meter. I put a roll of XP2 into the developing tank and couldn't find the timing for how long to develop the film for until later I found out it needs to get developed the same as color, so on and so on so Ive bitten the bullet and will just shoot these two film types

Why are the spacing on my 120 film not consistent? see below....it makes it difficult for scanning

Makes perfect sense, Neil.  But according to your description it seemed that you were shooting the GOLD line of Kodak film and not the PORTRA line.  To me, it doesn't make sense to shoot with the GOLD line.  But it makes a lot of sense to shoot PORTRA, especially as a good "getting your feet wet" film.

I don't know the science behind this but it happens to me, too.  My intuition is that is has something to do with how fast you turn the advance shutter when you advance the film.  But I have nothing to back this up

Mate the color ones were shot with my M6 so that already has a meter built in, and at that time I hadn't been introduced to Kodak Portra. I have only shot one roll of Kodak Portra film with the Hasselblad but I screwed up and developed it with B&W chemicals :( :(

Different films Neil? They look different anyway, so does this also mean differing backs?

Been there, done that.  Reminds me of the time last Fall when I had all of the luscious fall colors of the Central Park leaves at my fingertips and had tmax in one film back of my Hassy and Ektar in my other film back and got confused as to which was in which and used a yellow filter for the shots that I thought were B&W but in fact they were Ektar.   :o  Perfect Fall afternoon wasted...  At least with the Hassy it doesn't allow you to advance the shutter while the dark slide is in, or to remove the film back while the dark slide is removed.  My old Linhof has no mercy in this regard...

Otherwise we'll have yet another howler where you got mixed up.

I had the chance to shoot Leion who is also from China studying here in KL. We really wanted to go out and shoot location kind of shots but the weather let us down so ended up shooting in the studio. After lunch I shot two rolls with her at Lake garden but it was hot and sticky (weather not me) but we plan to go out again next time home for some early morning location shooting...... :) :)

Mate I do that. when I was out shooting Yuuki I grabbed a new back and there was not film tab like what you said,panic automatically kicked in but there in the bottom of my camera bag was the wee bugger....panic over and back happy shooting :) :)

Yea mate, I cut the developing time by 2 minutes and the film turned out fine.
