Yes, you are right,

It is quite an impressive fountain, with lots of character and beautiful horses!

Unfortunately It is placed much to one side of the place with no room behind.

I am told it was originally situated opposite the city hall, which is the buiding

you can see behind.

Perhaps at night, with suitable illumination it would be possible to visually

separate the entire fountain from its background ... I may try next time when I

am there.

Best regards

Christoph

Thanks for Wikipedia link.

Interesting, as the sculptor Bartholdi's also behind the Lion in Belfort and Fontaine Schwendi in Colmar. Both are sculptures that I've *noticed*, meaning I didn't just give them a quick glance like the endless sculptures scattered across Europe.

A monkey's fist if I am not mistaken !

The grain on the wooden box stands out nicely. Unless it is due to the scanning process, you can see a difference between the 35mm and 6x4.5.

Harvey 777 ???

No it's the format I'm sure, different scanners though. The 6x4.5 on a flatbed Epson V850 and the 35mm on Plustek 8100 in real life I find them, at reasonable scan sizes, equivalent but the V850 is more versatile, perhaps I should re-scan the Loch Lomond one just to see?

? the Harvey's 777: A legend in developers, the current holders of the formula Bluegrass Packaging in America made a new batch last year. They will not post abroad but a friend sent me a pack to try, quite tricky to deal with, needs ripening first then replenishing and if not used regularly resuscitating before use. ( lost 5 rolls that way, just dead) Very economical but high maintenance. I kept  some back to kick start another batch, I have another pack in reserve I will start again sometime.

This is what then ripened developer looks like:

And this a shot I remembered when I saw the one above by Ramarenn:

Thanks Henry

When seeing images of the statue of liberty I always have to think of Viktor Frankl who once suggested to erect a Statue of Responsibility on the West coast as he argued that "...Freedom is but the negative aspect of the whole phenomenon whose positive aspect is responsibleness. In fact, freedom is in danger of degenerating into mere arbitrariness unless it is lived in terms of responsibleness."

Great tones within the wooden fence.

That is really interesting. It sounds from the link you posted to be a nightmare to mix but rewarding if you get past that hurdle with the longevity of Rodinal. I think I will stay with mass producers at the moment.

I like the way you talk about Harvey's 777, like a fine wine !

Thanks.

I find that the colours from Agfa Vista 200 can be quite pleasing.  IIIg, 5cm Summicron Collapsible.

Not many people will know that back in 1989, Ektar was rated at 125ASA ;)  A surprisingly forgiving film as can be seen below - clearly quite a slow shutter speed (moving foliage) used on my Pentax ME Super and in those days I would have relied on what the camera's meter was telling me.

Saumur & the River Loire.
