Keith (M) Posted February 18, 2016 Share #11481 Posted February 18, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Looks like it will be a few days before I can contribute again. We had a sewer backup and a flooded basement. The house is in chaos, and the consolations of chemical photography will have to wait a short while. It does look like you're all doing a fantastic job in the meantime! Chris Ouch - doesn't bear thinking about Commiserations, Chris. We had a water leak in early June whilst we were away in Spain - luckily the neighbour who keeps an eye on the house spotted it before too much damage was done. Even so it took the insurance company and its contractors until December to repair/replace everything - but at least the leak was only clean water...

I particularly like the blues in this one. Looks like it will be a few days before I can contribute again. We had a sewer backup and a flooded basement. The house is in chaos, and the consolations of chemical photography will have to wait a short while. It does look like you're all doing a fantastic job in the meantime! Chris Well, Chris, as unfortunate as that all seems, there are much worse things that could have kept you away from the thread. Glad to know everyone is ok in your home. And hey, a little 8x10 magic of some backed up sewer could be cool Just think of the tonal range you can capture! Just kidding, I know the whole ordeal must be quite stressful...

A miller Posted February 18, 2016 Share #11487 Posted February 18, 2016 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Adam, this is very good indeed and works brilliantly in colour. I think what I lacked in the previous one is "depth" - the colour film when converted looks (and I realise this is on a screen; it might well look very different in print) flat somehow (perhaps because of smaller grain?). I saw the same when I converted Portra in my old surfers project and had a difficult time making them look black and white. The below shot has a nice golden tint which pleasantly 'jars' (if that can be pleasant) with the anonymity theme. And I am sucker for edge-lit silhouettes and narrow sun-lit streets. [sorry for so many posts...i really need to use the multi-quote better] Philip - thanks for the comment. I think you may be right about the "flatness". I will see if opening up the shadows behind the woman will add some depth. Otherwise, I look again at polishing up the color version better...
