I agree with everyone on this.  Simple yet very appealing.  And the colors are very EKTAR< which of course I love.  I would considering printing this quite large...

True, will scan it in a  higher resolution and have it printed .

As quite a few of you seem to be working with, or interested in Large Format photography, I think it worthwhile to point out for inspiration, a book that has, in my humble opinion, a rather unique view on the use of those cameras for people photography: "Viage al sol" by Juan Manuel Castro Prieto. I particularly find his use of the tilt / shift in his portraits excellent and well fitting his subject matter. I think many of the pictures can also be found on the web.

Thank you David. I ordered Diafine from Maco in Germany and they happily delivered to me here in NL so I assume they'd ship to you too.

It's funny you mention DDX and D76 because as I am about to order new fixer I've been thinking of trying a new developer, too. How do you find these two?

I will bare Maco in mind, if I ever go down the Diamine route.

I may not be the best person to ask on this as I am not as critical as I should be - as I may have said before I still sigh with relief when I see the negatives developed !

I very much follow manufacturer's recommendations and bought the DDX when I was using Ilford Delta 100. But then I tend to use whatever developer bottle is open at the time providing there is a formula on the Mass Dev app. Both this and D76 provide good results, to me anyway. I used D76 as a stock solution and must have used it for 10 rolls of film (with increasing development time) before deciding to throw it away. D76 has shot up in price recently and is not the value it was, but it is easy to mix and keeps well.

At the moment I am using Rodinal, only because I am travelling and the bottle is small. I bought it in Berlin from fotoimpex when I visited last June. From inspection of the negatives, they appear to be contrasty enough for my liking and, you only use a mix of 1:50 which is remarkably good value.

Although I may try different developers I tend not too experiment and follow the manufacturers guidelines. I have a bottle of HC110 at home waiting to be opened. Maybe I should cut a film in quarters and develop separately in different developers so I can get an idea what each developer does. I just need the time though !

I am thinking of staying with Rodinal for a while, but I do like to support my main analogue manufacturer, which is Ilford.

Sorry I cannot be more help.

It takes a bit of finding we usually have quite a lot at Chesterfield branch

If you want me to grab you some let me know

Thanks for the offer. I am away at the moment and will not be returning home until the end of March, so may wait until then and give the local branch another try. I need to let them know someone is interested in the hope that: a. they start to stock and b. the young assistants may become aware of it and point out the shelf !.

Thanks again, David

The GX617 is one cool looking camera, how many rolls do you get through in a day in the Peak District

Hah!  I currently have around 40 rolls each of Velvia 50 and assorted black and white films to be processed from a recent tour of the Outer Hebrides.  The GX617 eats film - only four exposures per roll.  Fortunately, the camera has paid for itself several times over and continues to do so.  A day in the Peak District?  Depends, if the light and weather is what I want then I can get through a couple of pro packs very easily.
