gsgary Posted February 9, 2016 Share #10883 Posted February 9, 2016 Gary, you have some very nice shots in the series above. I particularly like the lone tree, the horse photos (being a rider how could I not), the waterfall and the third one in a walk in the woods, which is very spooky. I like that you have retained the foggy atmosphere. Here's one that doesn't look like much but if one zooms in the Hermannsdenkmal can be seen on the mountain top in the distance. Doc Henry Posted February 9, 2016 Author Share #10888 Posted February 9, 2016 Last week we had one of those really surreal sunsets. I happened to be in a pretty good spot along the reservoir lake in Central Park ready to shoot it. It was like being in a giant outdoor darkroom with the red safe-light illuminating everything. EKTAR skyfire-1.jpg Absolutely superb Adam Great color enough to want to shoot Ektar Best Henry
Doc Henry Posted February 9, 2016 Author Share #10889 Posted February 9, 2016 (edited) La petite Nina - riverside scene in Coulon, France. Another example of AgfaVista 200 - IIIg, 5cm Summicron Collapsible. For Keith IIIG a great camera https://leitzcameraaction.exposure.co/special-review-13 and I like what he says here ; "My particular IIIg, sn. 933 188 & made in 1958, needed servicing due to resting unused for too long, a common problem with antique cameras. It functioned as it should after that, which is quite impressive. I used to work on a camera repair counter, and often had to tell customers that their 5-year old digital camera was unrepairable, due to unavailable parts. Leica was ahead of the curve in promoting against planned obsolescence". Well said I agree "nice green" as said Adam Best Henry Edited February 9, 2016 by Doc Henry

philipus Posted February 9, 2016 Share #10892 Posted February 9, 2016 Very nice and "pale" colours Henry. Fits the subject extremely well. The Verdun ossuary is horrifically impressive, with the unidentified remains of some 130,000+ humans, and the whole surrounding area bears innumerable scars of the battles that took place there, with entire villages that simply ceased to exist. My parents took my brother and me there in the 80s and I returned a few years ago with my wife and saw the place with new eyes as an adult. It made the same kind of impression on me as the Killing Fields had done, a terrible reminder of the tragedy, stupidity and futility of war. lleo Posted February 9, 2016 Share #10894 Posted February 9, 2016 Today I was reading the film envelopes I have in the fridge: 7-8 are Ektar 100, a couple are Velvia 50, all 120. The Kodaks expiration was April 2000, while the Velvias 2001. They're surely vintage films. I have to give it a try.

A miller Posted February 9, 2016 Share #10897 Posted February 9, 2016 For Adam and Chris http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=257305&gclid=CMGlpYWr68oCFSsW0wod5dgFQA&Q=&ap=y&m=Y&is=REG&A=details What do you think of this camera ? The film is back Rg Henry Henry - Chris is better positioned to opine, but what I see is a potentially very meaningful investment on a number of levels. So you should think it through and price it all out from end to end. For a 4x5 entry point, you might want to start with a Crown Graphic like what Chris has. They are very inexpensive and can be bought with lenses and will give you a way to do the end to end exposing, processing and printing very cost efficiently. Just a thought...

A miller Posted February 9, 2016 Share #10899 Posted February 9, 2016 Absolutely superb Adam Great color enough to want to shoot Ektar Best Henry Thanks a lot, Henry. The Ektar is a good compromise between regular C41 color film and E-6 slide film. I'd like to do more with the E-6 film stocks, but I will always come back to Ektar as my primary film.
